About Me

I recently moved back to Boston, specifically to Cambridge, to do a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT. Since my husband is stuck in NYC for work, I'm traveling back-and-forth a lot and don't have many opportunities to host... but if our dates overlap you're welcome to crash. And, if not, perhaps we can meet abroad! :)

I'm working full-time and can't explore with you during the day, so I prefer a couch surfer who is independent. I come home 7pm or later, although I can usually meet you for a drink at night and give you tips on what to do during the day. Boston is a wonderful city with a lot of art, history and fun and I'll do my best to help you enjoy your stay. The part of Cambridge where I live is great for bars and restaurants and walking around.

PHILOSOPHY

There's a lovely quote by Marjorie Pay Hinckley explaining the end goals of her life. This is one of the images I aspire to:
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

I try to take advantage of every opportunity, whether to lift my mood or someone else's, and to feel as though my time has been well-spent. The world is a beautiful, stimulating place!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing stands for the things I support most in human interactions: trusting and helping and opening hearts and minds. I've met so many great people here! Sharing your physical privacy is one of the fastest ways to develop a strong and meaningful relationship with someone. I've gotten to host, surf, and explore with many beautiful people from this community. I believe in the karma of the universe, and returning the hospitality of the incredible people I've met during my travels.

Interests

I love dancing, cooking, skiing, traveling, drinking tea, asking questions, feeling aware of the weather, hiking, hugging trees, late night food runs, animals doing funny things, jumping off cliffs into warm water, big fluffy dogs, frolicking in the rain, trying new fruit, motorcycles, sushi, getting people to smile back, pushing my boundaries and, of course, experiencing new languages, cultures and friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've done is NOT die on any of my travels, given my penchant for following adventure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach someone how to dance, how to get dirty in my garden, and how to fully submerge themselves in the pleasure of a perfect cup of tea.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a surfer, I try to be tidy and leave everything cleaner than I found it. I like to bring small gifts from my previous country so if there is anything you're excited about (or any foods you don't eat), please let me know. I don't like to sit around much unless I'm exhausted from a stressful trip. That said, some of my favorite travel moments have been a quiet night in, cooking dinner and chatting with my host. If you're going on any adventures during my visit, I would be very happy and grateful to join you. I love staying up late over tea or beer and exchanging stories. Sharing cultures and memories is one of my favorite parts of CS!
