ABOUT ME

i love experimental music, specifically noise and noise rock. i really like building analog synthesizers and using old ripped-out speaker cones to make awesome feedback. i also love playing the drums and other percussion, and i'm always open to new instruments. probably my favorite thing in the world is playing drums with my noise rock band, and if you would be into doing some high-energy improvisation with us (possibly under the influence) we should hang out.

and then there's the whole chemistry thing. i love chemistry - physical chemistry, specifically nonlinear electronic spectroscopy. i've just graduated from MIT and next fall i'll be starting graduate school at the university of chicago, studying the quantum dynamics of photosynthetic reaction centers. i love plants and photosynthesis and plant physiology in general as well.

i also like making vegan food, seeing live music, going swimming, and watching horror movies.

Music, Movies, and Books

i think the fiery furnaces are the greatest thing to ever happen to music. i also really like black dice, sonic youth, stereolab, animal collective, hair police, deerhunter, jack rose, and plenty of other indie and noise bands.

horror movies are my favorite, notably the texas chainsaw massacre, anything by rob zombie, the saw series, and the descent. i also really like anything by david lynch, wes anderson, and the coen brothers.

like everyone else in the world i love kurt vonnegut. my favorite novel is cat's cradle. my favorite book is the bible, although i'm totally not religious at all. i just think it rules. i love modernist fiction too, especially james joyce and virginia woolf. i've recently finished ulysses. and for some reason i've read a lot of non-greek epic poetry.
