ABOUT ME

I'm an English artist who used to be a teacher. I live in Grodno, Belarus because my wife, Yanina, has a Belarusian passport. Polish is her nationality. She speaks Polish and Russian and Belarusian and she is very, very kind, welcoming and charming.

PHILOSOPHY

I prefer doubt to belief. People tend not to go to war because of doubt and belief is an emotion which can easily be manipulated. Remember that thriller you saw which had you on the edge of your seat even though you knew it was just acting?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch surfers can sleep at my art studio, which is completely separate from the flat I share with my wife, Yanina. There's a ten minute walk between them. There's a couch for two and my studio has all the comforts of an apartment. When I turn up to work the next day I might want to be left alone to growl at the canvas. That's the only disadvantage but I wouldn't come very early. Visitors could go to our flat during the day if I'm working.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experience so far except in dossing down during the Cretaceous.

Favourite novel 'Any Human Heart' by William Boyd. I like 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott Fitzgerald as well.
Ian McEwan is another favourite author.I like blues and jazz. Favourite artists: Picasso,Lucian Freud,Chagall. Favourite film (old!black and white!): 'The Apartment' with Jack Lemmon and Shirley McLean.
