About Me

A social researcher interested in understanding the workings of the world turned into a traveler.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Backpacking on my trips on a budget brought me here, but I think I would still be here even if the budget was not an issue at all. Couchsurfing is a wonderful way to meet people and steer away from bling-bling tourism to a more meaningful way of understanding different places, cultures, and people.

Interests

I was always interested in conversations that involving understanding what oneself is (and what everything that is around oneself stands for). This is how I ended up studying Philosophy and Social Sciences. Communication takes many shapes, but I am interested in any form of it that brings people in some way or another closer to each other and makes them feel/ understand something new.

Music, Movies, and Books

I started out with Classical Rock when I was really young, but, since then, got into a diversity of different genres. I can enjoy a Klezmer orchestra as much as I can enjoy some dark electronic alternative music. The Klezmer orchestra goes with Bregovic's White Cat Black Cat or Underground. The electronic music might go well with a Kim Ki Duk movie.

A novel that stands out for me is Hesse's Steppenwolf. From a different perspective, Foucault's lectures are a fascinating read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling 300 km in 11 hours in my home country from the capital city to the seaside.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope to be able to find channels of communication with my hosts such that our differing experiences meeting can lead to us finding new perspectives that were not obvious to us beforehand. Such experiences truly excite me.

Austria, Bulgaria, China, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Philippines, Poland, Slovakia, South Korea, Turkey
