About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Launching first Digital Nomad House in the UK on the beach in Blackpool.

ABOUT ME

I left England in 2004 to set up somewheredifferent.com. Back now in UK after 15 years launching the UK offering. Egypt in winters.

PHILOSOPHY

You need three things to succeed. Talent / Hard Work / Luck - the talent and hard work brings the luck.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I run a hotel, so... don't really advertise a free bed, but I want to use couch surfing to meet travellers and in return share my experiences (and my jeep) with them on my adventures into the countryside.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met a guy once who reckoned he has got through Europe in 4 months on 400 euro by couch surfing and hitching. I asked him about what he thought about couch surfing.
"I have earnt my free bed" he said "I have told my story 1,000 times, there is no such thing as a free bed". That's all I know about CS :)

I feel there are quite a few freeloaders out there who feel life owes them, well a bed for a start. I don't see it that way and want to start to use CS to be put in touch with other travellers locally and experience my little adventures with like minded people instead of staying in a hotel, not for a 'free' bed. I will always buy dinner and get the beers in. It's not about saving money, is about meeting people.

Plus the fact it is a similar set up to my new site www.workintraveller.com, so I am here to kick the tires on it and learn something new.

Interests

I am interested in: online communities, skateboarding, finding new bars and countries to explore, keto, drinks that have no sugar, desert dune driving, property development, sunsets, photography, making (not watching) movies, food, women, social occasions, Land Cruisers, off road events, funk and Phyc Trans and, well I could go on for ever. These are just the first things that have popped into my head, in no order of preference :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all sorts, old, R&B, new stuff, what ever is playing . I love funky music you can dance to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kept me and all my family alive through five - 9m high waves in the 2004 Tsunami in Sri Lanka :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I was/am a paparazzi photographer and know a bit about that. Have set up a successful travel company and worked in Media in London for years as a photographer and internet consultant. Have build several houses out of stone, mud and wood, so again know a bit about that. Launched a socail network that is now at 60,000 users. Interested to learn about Paganism and the old ways before it all becomes hollywood.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My dinner :) My knowledge and warped sence of humour. My camera and the pics it takes of them :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Austria, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, England, France

Countries I’ve Lived In

Croatia, Egypt, England, Sri Lanka, United States
