The people. I'm always surprised and touched by folks' generosity. I've been hosted a couple of times, and surfed in Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Lisbon, Porto, all great experiences.

Hmm, I love books, though just tried to get through The Known World and failed. Other favorites: Murakami. Roth. Tony Judt. I read a lot of history and tend to recommend George Saunders.

Movies: I'm on a Dardennes Brothers kick now. The Graduate makes me laugh every time. Errol Morris. Xavier Dolan. Kusterica. Tarkovsky.
