About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Perfect my handstand

ABOUT ME

I'm an engineer living in Seattle, WA. I've spent the past several years of my life learning things, traveling and performing. Now that I've graduated college and started a 'career', I hope to continue doing these things but in a completely different environment.
I've been trick roping and singing since I was 8 years old, and I enjoy demonstrating and teaching both these arts as best I can to anyone willing. I've spent the summers in my past four years selling children's books door to door, which may sound kinda greasy. However, this experience has left me willing and excited to talk to and learn about everybody I meet.
I enjoy anything that smells of new experiences and/or adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat people the way they want to be treated, smile, relax, and expect great things; they'll come to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since getting my own place in Seattle, I've been hosting since March of 2011. I've had a ton of fun meeting new people from around the world, and I look forward to doing more couchsurfing in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosting surfers since March 2011, and before that I couchsurfed a bit across America by myself. I spent a month couchsurfing across Germany, and I look forward to one day doing it in Japan.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most movies and music. If it's good, I'll probably like it. I will always enjoy of good Terry Pratchett book, and Neil Gaiman is by far my favorite author. Currently, I've gotten into reading Mark Danielwski's experimental stuff. Also, Joesph Campbell rocks my socks.
Music: Again, if it's good, I'll listen to it. The Decemberists are probably my favorite band presently, though Beirut, Passion Pit, and Sigur Ros are on the list of bands I enjoy (Along with everything from Barbershop quartet music to bluegrass to metal to choral music ala Eric Whitacre)
Movies: I'm partial Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I've loved the movie 'Hook' since I was a young kid...and I haven't stopped. Otherwise, I'll watch anything that doesn't base it's plot on gut-wrenching gore (unless it's funny).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I feel like saying that I've done anything amazing in my short 28 years wouldn't be true. Here's a shot though:
I've met the Ambassadors to Vietnam and Thailand. Been a member of one of the first performing groups in Vietnam since the war. I've performed in Carnegie Hall with an ensemble twice...
By far the most amazing thing that I'm actually proud of is my participation with a club on my college campus by the name of Camp Wildcat. This club's main mission is to take the 'underprivileged' youth of Tucson on cost free camping trips to teach them about how college and general success are attainable goals. They take kids who are raised from a young age to believe that their only future beyond high school is getting a job somewhere and put them in an environment where college is a fun possibility. A lot of kids come into it with their goals set at joining the military or working at the jail(which are great things mind you) and leave with aspirations of becoming an engineer or following their passion to write. I was blessed to spend four years as everything from a counselor to a donations coordinator for this club. It was definitely 'amazing'.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely teach you to spin a rope.I could also probably teach you some math as well as how to make balloon animals. Also, though I'm definitely no expert, I could potentially teach you something neat about either computers or numbers.
I would love to learn a different language, how to juggle(check), and how to do a free-standing handstand.
