About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To start a waste to energy company, and to play music with people who love to play music.

ABOUT ME

The key thing about me is that I am open. I love to spend time outside, to play the saxophone, to read and to meet new people. I grew up in Yellowstone National Park, actually inside the park! I hike a lot.

I lived in Kathmandu, Nepal for five months while I coordinated the installation of small scale anaerobic digesters, a kind of waste to energy technology; I also played sax with a Bollywood cover band. I am working on writing fiction, with mixed results.

PHILOSOPHY

"Ski with your headlights on."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Presently as a surfer only. I am good at doing dishes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None thru this site.

Interests

I like books by Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, David Foster Wallace and George Saunders. Also I read Mad Magazine. As a general rule, I do not read Buzzfeed articles no matter how enticing the headlines are.

I love going for runs on trails. I love good conversations. If a good conversation develops over a trail run, I am all about that.

Right now I am gradually learning to play the Charlie Parker song "Billie's Bounce" on sax by ear. I can read music, too, but only slowly. I think Kanye West's album Yeezus is the most exciting piece of popular music to have come out in a pretty long time.

I am better at the sax than Chinese or welding, but same deal there.
