Overview
About Me
I work as a freelance-journalist, which suits my curiosity and my incapability to deal with authorities.
I love to get to know new places and people, enjoying the territories between intellectual summits and utmost silly stuff (niveau-flexible).
CURRENT MISSION:
I am working on a book on penguins (:-), which will take me to Greenland in July, to the Falklands/Malvinas and Patagonia in November and December, and to Uruguay later on in December/January. When I am in Berlin, I there are times when I a happy to receive guests and pamper them, and others where life is just too busy and I can't.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
for the people.
Interests
I am a very curious person, so I guess pretty much anything. except for nail polish and soccer.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I never know what to answer to this question. Indie stuff from the 60s, 70s, 80s, I guess. Cheesy Italo and Latin pop, Ska and Balkan stuff, Electro Tango. Dancable! Rodriguez, Keith Jarett, Jan Gabarek, Babylon Circus.
I like (and need) silence, too.
Movies:
Best lately: Toni Erdmann. Arrival. The Lobster
Best ever: Salt of the Earth. Mary Poppins
Books: (lately)
Behind the beautiful Forevers
China Road
Ungläubiges Staunen
Untergetaucht
Zeitoun
So... Lately mostly non-fiction, stuff that that takes my mind either out into the world, or deeper inside daily details
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hike from Argentina into Chile, on the Bolivian Altiplano and ride a motorbike through Ladakh and Zanskar
Sail from Colombia to Costa Rica
Swim with dolphins in the open sea
Eat more than 15 chinese dumplings at a time
Meditate for insane 10 days in a row
Write and publish an impossible book about a Brazilian slum
Be part of an Improv Show in China
Tiggle a 5 tonne elephant seal and watch Rockhopper penguins take a bath in the cree -- there is nothing like it
Teach, Learn, Share
happy to:
sing around a campfire (sing nicely, play the guitar crappily, picking up the Ukulele now)
go for a dance (tango, salsa, swing, just go wild)
go for long walks and bikerides, exploring
do yoga, go swimming, snorkelling, running, hiking, cycling, kayaking...
what I want to learn in the near future:
Chinese
Freediving
Get a motorbike licence
Play chords on the piano
Do the yoga crow
How to fix a car, so I can go buy a campervan
What I Can Share with Hosts
my quest, my thoughts and observations
an open mind and heart
my love of cooking for other people
a good sense of humour
many, many fun facts about penguins
my longing to go and see Antarctica and South Georgia
