Overview
About Me
Born in a small town, I spent my early years in close contact with country and woods before moving to the city at the age of 23. I graduated in Journalism and I started a degree in Geography & Planning soon afterwards. I worked in media for a few years and then I suddenly decided to leave everything behind and move to Canada. I started from scratch in the amazing city of Montreal, where I've been living for more than 3 years. I'm now planning to go back home, but only after completing a 2-month biking trip across North America.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a would-be geographer, I see places as having meanings and significances for their inhabitants. Since I'm interested in discovering places through people, I believe that Couchsurfing is the best world-wide community to do so. Besides, its non-monetary nature perfectly fits with my view on how human relations should be.
*I'm currently not accepting guests because I'm moving out as I'm updating this profile. Though I'll be opening my new home to surfers pretty soon.
Interests
Generally, everything which is readable, whatchable or listenable. But more specifically, great stories about discoveries and long-gone times. I love road-sounding folk music and reading about history facts. It pushes me out of my daily routine and moves me to plan new trips. Anything related to bikes falls directly to my field of passions: I use it to commute, I travel with it, I watch races, and I strongly believe that bikes can go a long way to save our planet from this foolish global mess induced by cars.

Music, Movies, and Books
There was always blues and jazz music playing at home when I was a child. Though I probably tried to break something up in my teen years listening to more rebel punk rock music. I'm now getting back to the roots and to those old jazzy tunes. New indie folk as well as some soul and smooth hip-hop songs are also to my taste. Cinema is also one of my greatest passions. I take pleasure in watching classic movies and reviewing great directors' filmographies. I stand up for indie films and theaters against blockbusters and multiplexes that just try to idiotize people.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I probably would say that biking trips and hikes are the most amazing things I've done so far. I biked around the island of Sardinia in 2008 and across the Pyrenees (700 km from the Bay of Biscay to the Mediterranean Sea) in 2011. Though the greatest of these so-called present-day adventures is likely yet to come. I'm expecting to leave Montreal on June 24th and reach the US West Coast by early September. About 5,100 km on two wheels, halting in cities like Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Des Moines, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach a little about bike repair and maintenance. I can teach some Spanish and/or Catalan (which are both my mother tongues), and I could even teach some French to English-speaking hosts. I can also teach how to cook some traditional Catalan recipes.
I can learn to understand football, baseball or any other North American sports rules. I can learn to improve my vegan cooking skills. I can share not so steep free climbing routes (5.10a). I can share endless hours of discussion about humans and cultures from all over the world.
