About Me

CURRENT MISSION

trying to find out what this thing called "life" is all about

ABOUT ME

I like to think that I am a friendly, very easy-going, open-minded person that generally likes new things and new experiences, which includes people, places, food, philosphies, etc.
I am constantly trying to become a better person.
a couple more facts about me:

- I fuckin love clouds. I really do. I could spent a lifetime just watchin those motherfuckers, especially out of an airplane-window. travelling is the best

- I eat fast and I drink fast. Don't worry if you can't keep up with me, most people can't.

- I usually don't leave the house without some music in my ears

- I like taking night-trains

- I don't consider myself a writer but I really like scribbling stuff down once in a while. feels very liberating.

- I'm not a big fan of Greyhound buses, I rather hitchhike or do rideshares with random weird people

- vending machine dinners are pretty damn awesome if shared with the right people!

I might come off a little shy/introvert at first, but as soon as you get to know me a little or give me some alcohol that'll change.

PHILOSOPHY

changing the world one molecule at a time, or at least trying to.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I co-hosted a couple of people while I was living in San Francisco with these guys:
http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/jank02/
http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/jamtastic/
http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/jacampbell

On my USA trip I surfed a bunch of places and attended a couple of meetings. I had nothing but wonderful experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

surfed a couple of couches in europe, mostly not via this site though. co-hosted people during my amazing time in San Francisco. Also surfed my way across the US during my big roundtrip in August '10.

Right now I live in a one bedroom apartment that has a fold out couch. I can possibly host you if you are in a difficult situation but we would have to sleep in the same room. Not a problem with the most people though.

Interests

Besides Cell Biology and Biochemistry: Many types of sports, watching sports, Internet, Chess, Information, getting lost in my own thoughts, bad writing, hiking, getting away from civilisation from time to time, watching snow fall, listening and sleeping to the sound of falling rain

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Rocky, K-Pax, Fight Club, Shawshank Redemption, City of God, Hurricane, Garden State, Identity, Long Way Round, A Beautiful Mind, Drunken Master, Into the Wild and many more

Music: there is no real answer to this. Constantly changes depending on mood, time of day, current occupation, etc.
besides, I am one of those people that admit that they like Popmusic. Catchy rhytm and mostly meaningless lyrics that I can easily sing along with, what wrong with that?
(Also I'm secretly in love with Taylor Swift, but psst don't tell anyone!)

Books: Hermann Hesse is my favorite, also like Vonneguts books, Catcher in the Rye, Moby Dick, Jack London, Bukowski

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

living in San Francisco - simply amazing

I slept under the St.Louis Gateway Arch on a very warm summer night and woke because I got mauled by an oppossum.

I watched the Grand Central Station in New York waking up.

experiencing great hospitality from complete strangers when you least expect it can really lift your spirit

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess science is my thing. But I also can teach you a lot about european soccer.
Currently I'm trying to get better at chess and try to do some more running.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, Germany, United States
