About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Walking from Friesland, The Netherlands to Santiago de Compostela and onward to Portugal and who knows where. A jump in the deep, living a pilgrim's life from my bag and the sweet care of good and lovely people.

ABOUT ME

Howdy people! I'm David, just graduated from my Research Master in Modern History and International Relations. It's always hard to say things about yourself, but I'll give it little try. The reason I'm a member of the couchsurfing project is that I love people. I love the stories they tell, the energy they give, the music they bring, the new food, other habits, different views on the world, politics, love and life in general. I obviously love history, and thinking and talking about almost anything. I love music, making music and singing madly. That would be something you could wake me up for in the middle of the night! The rest that's to say about me will be in the references of other people!

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. Let people be free and try to be free yourself. Don't get tangled up in what people say about you, or want you to be. Let yourself go and be creative and a loving person. Try to love yourself, but always be critical on yourself and the world around you. And most of all, be positive, loving and hopefull, life can be great if you want to!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the part above this, I already told some things about this. I want to host people to get to know them, and show them around town. I'd love to hear stories from them, listen to their music and eat their food, like I will do in return. These are exactly the reason I would also like to surf on other people's couches. To not only see the world, but know the world by the people who live on it, to enrich myself with the views, opinions, experiences and love of people across the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been lucky to welcome many amazing people in my house, both in The Netherlands as well as in Kosovo, and am gratefull for all the wonderful people that have welcomed me into their house! We've had many amazing experiences of people in our house, from music-playing, barefeet hippies from Sweden to band-managing, world travelling Moldovans. Of course, there's times when you connect better than others, but I think I can say I consider most people that stayed in my house as far away friends, that I am looking forward to seeing again!

Interests

My interests are very widespread. I really enjoy about everything. I love talking, travelling, cooking, meeting new people, love, history, philosophy, languages, singing, culture, reading and music(!) very much. Please just ask me if you want to know what I'm into and what I like, that would be much more interesting!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a huge dislike for lists, haha.

Ok, well a few bands then!

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Bon Iver, The XX, Band of Skulls, Jimi Hendrix, Lady of the sunshine, Angus & Julia Stone, Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, The Kooks, Kings of Leon, The Shins, The Death Weather, The White Stripes, Snow Patrol, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Doors, Vampire Weekend, Yeasayer, Radiohead, Lenny Kravitz, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Kasabian, The Strokes, The Libertines, Paolo Nuttini, Daft Punk, Dizzy Gilespie, Chopin, Frank Sinatra and a lot more bluesy, jazzy, rock, indie, whatever kind of amazing music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing meteor showers on the highest sanddune of Europe - Dune de Pyla in Arcachon - with wine and friends, being driven through Sarajevo by Haris, paryting in the university of Belgrade, hitchhiking to Barcelona and wandering around Tibidabo, trekking through Thailands jungle and so much more amazing things. But still, the most amazing things I have experienced in my life, are all the people I met while travelling.
