Hello everyone!

My name Dion van Dijk, a 28 year old urban designer from the Netherlands. I'd like to discover the world with all its different kind of landscape, cultures and people. There is so much to learn from just being somewhere else. Therefore I'm always in for new experiences and enjoy talking to people with different backgrounds.

Rotterdam is the most interesting city of The Netherlands. With its imposant skyline of modern architecture and diverse population, it's a fascinating city. Of course I can show you the city's highlights, but as a local I can show you places no tourist will find.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my study time in Copenhagen (Denmark) I hang around a whole day with an American guy. He was very interested in the city and because of my background I could tell him a lot about that subject, which was great.

Interests

My main interest is soccer for sure. Back in the Netherlands I have twice a week soccer practice and on saturday a match. So you can say that that's my biggest hobby. For the last 5 years I do running races every now and then. In 2015 is ran the Rotterdam Marathon.
Because of my study background I'm very interested in architecture, so I'm always busy with looking out for interesting things when I'm out on the streets.
Music is always in my head and I try every year to go to concert of big artists. Jack Johnson and Coldplay are already on my list :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll try to keep the list short, because I have a large range of music I like. It depends on your mood right? But some of my favourites are: Coldplay, Dire Straits, Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, Muddy Waters, UB40, David Guetta, Marvin Gaye, Kanye West, Nirvana. Obviously very different styles.

I'm more a fan of tv series instead of movies. Californication, Friends, How I Met Your Mother are my favourites.

My trip through South-Africa and Vietnam was definitely very impressive
