Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Flag planting assassin currently encountering characters, tiptoeing through other languages and enjoying cultural delicacies, especially of the Food & Futibol varieties.
ABOUT ME
Outgoing and looking to use my youth to travel. Energetic and seeking good laughs.
PHILOSOPHY
Strong believer in Karma and certain aspects of other eastern traditions. The western stuff has some great stories too, with strong moral undertones I occasionally get down with.
I think folks should maximize their own potential, while trying to positively affect those around them.
Good luck not stretching yourself too thin.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am always interested in hosting and being hosted. I find that there is nothing better than showing someone your country authentically or being shown another country the authentically.
True immersion is always possible in CS and I've been at it for a decade now.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've Couchsurfed a few times so far, Leipzig and Cologne, Germany as well as Bordeaux, France and Malmo, Sweden during 2006. In 2007, I surfed in Basel and Zurich Switzerland as well as Vienna, Austria and Istanbul, Turkey. I spent 2010 in South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland, where I had the good fortune of staying with Couch Surfers 5/6 weeks of my trip, despite visiting during the hustle of the World Cup. I did get to Couchsurf once in China after 2 years of living there. Finally, I visited Ukraine for the 2012 Euro Cup where I visited Donetsk and Crimea which now may or may not be a part of Russia.
I've enjoyed all my hosts and I believe Couchsurfing enriches the travel experience because you actually get to know the country in a local-ish sense.
I have surfed more than hosted but am excited for future surfers. I often find myself unsure of my future so I don't set up a couch unless I am sure I will be there. As I get more tied down, more hosting will be on the agenda.

Music, Movies, and Books
Cidade De Deus, Donnie Brasco, Pootie Tang, Mallrats...plenty of other movies...
Hip-hop music is a primary interest...almost all Old School and half of the underground and half of the mainstream contemporary, but i know plenty about older punk and alternative rock....also enjoy a little latin music and Jazz. Carioca Funk tambem.
I've worked as a music journalist for over 10 years, mostly covering rap.
I enjoy classical literature, post modern and other genres as well as a variety of poets and journalists. Wish the internet would stop working so I would read more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Numerous concerts, U.S. road trips, and my Euro 2004, 2008, and 2012. World Cup 2006, 2010, and 2014. New Orleans for service, studying in Spain, a 6 month stint in Rio De Janeiro, living in Santa Teresa and Botafogo barrios. Go there immediately, two years in the megalopolis of Chongqing, China...and this is by far the most amazing thing I've done:
Took and a chance and joined Couchsurfing in 2005.
