About Me
Currently in Aix, looking to visit some smaller towns tomorrow. Hit me up if you're interested in joining!
Hi! Growing up in New York City around people from all over the world has a stoked a desire to visit and learn more about various places. I've recently graduated from college and moved home temporarily from St. Louis, Missouri (where I lived for four years during school). Though I've yet to travel internationally in a non-touristic fashion, I've made a bunch of amazing trips around lesser-known parts of America (rural northern Kentucky, southern Illinois, central Missouri and the southwest) from my home base in the Midwest. My girlfriend turned me onto Couchsurfing as an awesome way to connect with others in a genuine fashion, and I have tried it once before on her account, but am excited to get started on my own!
I would describe myself as curious, excitable, and funny (though not sure if my friends would agree). I am a lover of camaraderie, nihilistic absurdity, imagination and am a devoted student of fucking around heavily. If you enjoy engaging in fraternal friendship, lamenting the agony of existence (jk), or doing ridiculous and fun shit, I bet we'll get along great!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to move past commercialized tourism while I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Supporter and promoter of hot jazz, classical, folk, blues, rap, and electronica music in local music scenes. I enjoy going to concerts, and plan to do so during me trip, so come join me/tell me about your favorite bands/venues! My favorite musicians include Judee Sill, Frank Ocean, Jenny Hval, Tchaichovsky, Shostakovich, and local St. Louis star Tommy Halloran. Lately been very into the albums "The Hottest Group in Jazz" by Lambert, Hendricks and Ross and "Swing in Paris" by Django Reinhardt.
Movies: My favorite directors are Luis Bunuel, Woody Allen (though he's a strange man), Wong Kar-Wai, Terry Gilliam, and Alejandro Jorodowsky, and favorite films include Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the Fisher King, El Topo, and Dheepan. I love anything strange, absurdist, dark, and that gives insight into the human condition.
Books: I think the books that have had the biggest impact on me are a transcribed lecture by Jean-Paul Sartre, White Noise by Don Delilo, and the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand (don't worry, not a conservative/Objectivist). I enjoy reading ethnography, archeology, philosophy, and on occasion fiction; and right now I'm reading Nausea by Sartre and a bunch of other books simultaneously. I enjoy anything that helps me grow my perspective (including contradictory viewpoints).
TV: Thought I'd add this as Cartoon Network shows like the Eric Andre Show and Adventure Time are also very important to understanding me.
