About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm planning on taking a road trip when I return home from Afghanistan.

Fort Hood > Nashville > Syracuse > NYC > Fort Bragg > Tampa > New Orleans > Fort Hood

I have family and friends in all locations except for Nashville and New Orleans, so I would be looking for hosts in those areas sometime March (I can provide you with more exact dates in a message)

I've never been to either location and they're conveniently halfway points between two other locations. I've heard nothing but great things about the cities and would love a host to show me around and/or put me up for a night. I'd be more than happy to buy you some beers or dinner or help out in any other way.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Platoon Medic for an Infantry unit in the Army. I'm currently in Afghanistan, and although it's not the most glamorous place in the world, it has provided me with an opportunity to see a small portion of the world. I plan on traveling immediately upon returning (short term) and am undecided on what to do in the future. Part of me wants to stay in the Army, and another part wants to get out and spend the winters snowboarding in Colorado and the summers traveling and volunteering around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

"In the time of your life, live so that, in that wonderous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being a soldier and living in the barracks, it's hard to offer a place to stay. But I'd be more than willing to meet up with anyone in the area if they need to be shown around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. This is all new to me. It almost feels like my whole experience in Afghanistan has been a Couchsurfing experience, though. Meeting new people from different walks of life everyday, living with different people, conversing with the locals, it's all been a great experience.

Interests

I love pizza. I'd love to film a documentary on pizza where I drive around the US and goto all the famous locations. If you know a great pizza spot in your area, let me know!

I feel like my interests have changed since being overseas. I've always enjoyed reading, but now that I've got a Kindle loaded with books, I'm reading more than ever. Seeing a different side of the world has got me itching to continue traveling and meeting new people in the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much to list. Some favorites would be...

Movies: Se7en, Snatch, Wedding Crashers

Music: Lucero, Sublime, Fun

Books: Blood Meridian, Blood on the Risers, Lone Survivor

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Currently deployed to Afghanistan, it's been a trip being able to go out and interact with the locals.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you first aid/trauma care and how to make a pizza. Two essential skills if a zombie apocalypse ever happens.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, worldly experiences, pizza.
