About Me

Hi! I'm Dylan a 28 yrs old Italian financial analyst eager to see the world, to know people, to listen to their most strange stories, and to share my own too.

It's 3 years now that I've been living in Malta, where I work as a financial analyst while enjoying the beach lifestyle. I'm a calm, tidy, and respectful person and I value more the time spent with people than other things.

I love paintings (especially Impressionist art and Flemish) and literature, tall mountainous lakes, castles and of course, as Italian, trying new foods :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was told about Couchsurfing some years ago when the guy (and later friend) who rented me his apartment in Milan showed me the sticker he put on the door. He explained what an interesting opportunity this platform offers to people eager to know different cultures and see new places. The fact that it wasn't simple advertising was proved by the wall in the living room. It was full of signatures of couchsurfers who stayed, maybe just for a night, in that house before me. Also, the smile on his face contributed to get an idea about it.

I think that visiting a city with locals following their pieces of advice is the most interesting and smart thing to do. Sometimes, if not most of the time, tourists come back home with a distorted idea of what they saw maybe not realizing they're "consuming" a place instead of experiencing it, wrapped as they are in the frenzy of taking as many photos as they can or doing other touristy things.
I firmly believe that the people with whom you live, even if just for a few days, are what can really make a place worthy to be visited; their histories, their lives are at the very end the value of a trip.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like old school music, from Hendrix to Dire Straits, passing through Iron Maiden, Nirvana, and the unforgettable Pink Floyd. I also love the more recent alternative/indie rock bands such as Royal Blood, Muse (except the last 3 albums) Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys. A special place in my heart is reserved for Bach and DeAndrè, an Italian poet/ singer-songwriter.

Movies: the super-Cults: American Psycho; The Big Short; American Beauty; What Dreams May Come; Shutter Island; the LOTR trilogy; City Lights; The Great Beauty (just to mention the first titles that came into my mind).

Books: The Grapes of Wrath; Crime and Punishment; Narcissus and Goldmund; One, No One and One Hundred Thousand; Blindness (and I can continue forever).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I walked from an edge of an iced lake to the opposite one.
The incredible part is that (at least that time) I didn't slip hurting myself ahah.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My superb and infinite knowledge of Italian cuisine. Just kidding, but I can prepare humble dishes if you like the true Italian taste :)
Otherwise, you can always enjoy my willingness to have a talk, to go out for a walk, a meal or all these things together!
