About Me

Hi, my name's dylan and im a pretty extreme person. Whether its bombing down a mountain through powder snow on my snowboard, hiking through the wilderness a week away from civilization, jumping out of a plane or just blasting music through my crew's sound system rig at raves in leeds, im all about having intense experiences.

Though that doesnt mean i dont also enjoy cracking open a beer and having an interesting conversation aswell. I think a lot about the nature of life and the universe, and about the problems that we all face and what can be done about them. Hearing new and interesting perspectives on things is one of the most exciting parts of being alive.

Im always down for meeting new people and trying new things, no matter how crazy or weird. Despite being a big fan of adventures i havent had many oppertunities so far in life to experience other cultures or see much of the world outside europe. So im hoping couchsurfing will help me to remedy this!

Current mission

At university i learned a lot about all kinds of different places and things in the world, but they all just seemed like stories in books or shows on tv to me. So now i want to find out what the reality of all that stuff i learned is really like. So i guess i just want to experience the 95% of the world that ive never been to but learned so much about, and hopefully make a few freinds along the way.

Philosophy

You should always try and get a better understanding of a phenomenon before you make any judgements, most places, people and situations are far more complex then they at first seem. Approach every situation with an open mind and empathize with everyone, otherwise you will never understand them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To have adventures and meet people pretty much : )

i havent done nearly enough traveling and need to correct that.

Interests

Im a bit of an adrenaline junkie i guess, pretty much anything that goes fast or makes a lot of noise im interested in. At the same time i also love to think and learn about the world and the people in it. Almost every day im learni g a new thing that amazes me, and hopefully this will happen even more while im travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

musically im pretty all over the place, when i was a teenager i was a massive metalhead but since theb i have opened up ti all kibds of music. I especially like ambient spacy music that makss you think and also music i can go wild dancing to.

favorite movie is definitely the blues brothers, though im a huge fan of documentaries and have a love of cheezy 80s action movies.

war and peace is the greatest book ever but i havent really done enough reading to definitively say that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

going on a one month long canoe trip through the wilderness of Canada is probably the most amazing thing ive ever done. pretty much just going as far from civilization as it is possible to get is super fun and a great way to get away from all the stresses of modern life. you also get really fit from the paddling and the portaging. definitely something i would recommend for anyone who loves the great outdoors!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk for ages about all kinds of places and cultures that ironically i have never actually been to thanks to books and the internet. I can also show you a fair few martial arts moves that might come in handy if you get into a bad situation.

At this point i really just want to learn about people and places and what life is like outside of briton and canada.

What I Can Share with Hosts

colorful clothes and more colorful conversation. i've also got a bit a knack for fixing things, especially electronic things.
