About Me

I try to live a simple life. I try to reduce clutter and distraction. And I practice compassion and warmth towards the people in my life.

Most of my days start with meditation. Then I start working on whatever project I'm busy with at the time... Going to my university lectures, writing, exercise, trying to find out everything about a particular subject.

I have many friends that I love to talk to and hang out with whenever I can.

Love to party once in a while, but I take good care of my body and try to find this perfect place on the line between sober and wasted.

Whenever I can, I do my activities outside. I can be weirded out by the city-dwelling human living in small concrete boxes, trying to hide their true selves from those around them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am intrigued by people in general and different cultures in particular. I've lived abroad (Stockholm, Sweden) and I've met people from all kinds of backgrounds, countries, religions and philosophies.

I love to understand more of the world and what better way is there to invite the world in your home... Except for travelling myself, which I hope to do whenever the next holiday is around the corner.

Whenever I can help people, I'm there. If anybody is in need of a place to stay, why not have them sleep on my couch?

Interests

Meditation, running, yoga, hiking. Reading (fiction AND non-fiction), movies (documentary AND feature), conversations with all kinds of people. Playing the guitar and writing poetry from time to time.

I try to keep my life simple, we don't need anything to make us happy.

Music, Movies, and Books

There's too much beauty to say I have real favorites, but I can share some of the best experiences with you...

Movies - from Stanley Kubrick ('2001: A Space Odyssey' makes me feel so small) to Pixar (I cried to 'Inside Out'...), from action (Mad Max: Fury Road anyone?) to documentary (Jiro Dreams of Sushi... What a man and what a discipline).

Music - As a guitar player I have a special place in my heart for some nice singer-songwriter music. I love to dance to techno and minimal. I listen music to feel alive, so emotional music is always welcome. When I need some energy, bring me some hiphop or rap and I'm ready to go.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have so many amazing experiences... How can I choose?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to play guitar. I can teach you Dutch or English. I can teach you anything related to writing non-fiction, persuasive texts, marketing or entrepreneurship. I'd love to share with you in meditation or mindfulness techniques. I can teach you how to overcome your fears. I know some nice tricks to help you stay organized and disciplined.

I'd love to get in touch with other minimalist people who enjoy the simple and mindful life. I'd love to learn how you balance the demands of this society with your own search for peace and happiness. I'd love to learn more about computer science, internet security and programming. I'd love to learn to draw more and use computer programs for graphic design.

If you can teach me some songs on the guitar, food will be free of charge. =P

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you stay with me, you'll have your own two-person bed. I live in a student housing complex, so we'll share the kitchen and bathroom with some others. If you want, you can do your laundry at my place though.

I might have a bike for you to borrow, but that depends on my own schedule during the day.

In general, I am busy with my own projects, so I won't be able to take you on a day trip, unless it is weekend. In the evenings or mornings however, I'd love to show you around.
