About Me

Hi there! My name's Dylan I'm a traveler and music enthusiast, I've traveled great distances over the years to see some of my favorite bands.

I'm a musician and writer myself and I enjoy all forms of art. I'm a big fan of live music and I spend most of my free time going to shows or playing them. Traveling to new places and meeting new people are also some of my favorite things to do.

I'm pretty laid back and easy to get along with, I get along with most people and enjoy getting to know them. I've lived in Chattanooga most of my life but I plan on moving before too long, although it is a wonderful city and I'd be happy to show you around if you decide to visit.

I work the door at a bar/venue in town and I usually know the best shows going on and some good sights and out door activities around Chattanooga.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I usually go out of town for festivals and other shows, most often to Atlanta and Nashville, though I've also traveled to New Orleans, New York city, Washington D.C. , San Francisco, L.A. , Las Vegas, and most recently, Seattle, as well as all sorts of other places along the way! I almost always make trips to Punk Rock Bowling in Vegas, Riot Fest in Chicago and Muddy Roots in TN since they are my favorite festivals.

I used to frequent Bonaroo a bit as well. I've hitch hiked all the way across America from TN and used to hop trains a bit, though it's been a while. I just enjoy traveling, seeing live music and meeting new people. I really love the thrill of being in a new place I've never been.

I usually have no problem coming up with the money for travel and concert tickets, but some times having enough money for a hotel, especially when prices are inflated for festivals and such is a challenge. I usually crash with friends of mine who live in certain areas, but some have moved and others have living situations or jobs that aren't ideal for having someone crash on your couch occasionally and the last thing I want to do is make someone uncomfortable in their own home.

Interests

I enjoy music festivals and have been to many. I like meeting new people, and getting to know them. I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, swimming, and just about anything outside.

I also enjoy story telling, making people laugh, I used to do acting and improv comedy and still love it. I'm a big nerd so I'm really into comic books, I'm also a big vinyl nerd and have a pretty decent collection so far.

I enjoy video games though I don't have as much time to play as I once did. I like board games and card games. I'm also pretty decent at trivia, I have a wealth of useless knowledge.
I also love animals, pretty much all of em.

I work as a stage hand with IATSE, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, I plan to eventually become a touring live sound engineer and then move into recording music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once hitch hiked across America to go see Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas, I had a ticket, but didn't have enough money to make my way there in time, so I hitched with a friend to Kansas City and made my way there. It was an amazing experience, and I'd be happy to tell you all about it some time. I even made it in the nick of time, luckily.

Other than that my first train hopping trip was pretty astounding, but that's another story.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to put here since I already put what I can share with my host and anyone else down below...

But I'm always open to learning, especially anything to do with my interests listed above as well as other hobbies I'd like to get into such as rock climbing, meditation (I've done a bit but want to do more), yoga, sailing, sound engineering (again, I know a little but I'm still learning), music, even if you can show me something on drums I can't do, I'll always take tips. I'd REALLY like to learn to play guitar. There's lots of other subjects I'm fascinated in, if you have something to teach or share, let me know I'll happily listen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some great stories, I can share some great jokes with you or teach you some fun improv games. I can teach you how to play the drums, I can teach you a lot about different bands and random trivia about music and other subjects. I know how to make sushi, I'm an ok cook, and I can show you how to hop trains.

I'm also a really courteous guest, I make my bed, clean up after myself, I'll do your dishes and even clean for you a bit if you want, whatever I need to do to make everyone happy and maintain your household.
