Hello!

Here's a quick introduction to myself:

I'm Dylan, a Brit that likes tea and beer equally, that is exceedingly and perhaps excessively polite, and entertainingly deprecating about almost everything. So, the perfect cliche of my nationality.

For kicks, I adventure outdoors and enjoy music, film and literature indoors. I'm in medical research (epidemiology, to be precise) at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. So I'm a scientist, but don't let that scare you off, we're well-rounded people. Some of us don't only look at the floor in social situations.

Here is a quick summary of my likes and dislikes...

Likes: one-liners in Arnie films, satsumas, outlandish claims made by gangster rappers, famous sibling rivalries, the Winter Olympics (bar curling), great novels (Graham Greene, Salman Rushdie, Hemingway, Isabel Allende are some favourites), that scene in Ferris Bueller where he climbs on the parade float

Dislikes: jellyfish

I don't want to pigeon hole myself in terms of personality, so I'll just say I most closely relate to the character of Panthro from Thunder Cats.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I (along with three friends) surfed with plenty of kind Americans while driving around the States a few years ago. I will remember my first corn dog forever, thank you, USA.

I've since stayed with sterling folk in Hungary, Norway, Canada, the UK and many other spots, and I've also hosted a few people in the past.

A sample of music I like include:
the Replacements, the Afghan Whigs, the Roots, Bonobo, the National, the Wrens, Springsteen, Dylan, the Roots, Janelle Monae, Sufjan Stevens, LCD Soundsystem, Run the Jewels, the Hold Steady, Drive-by Truckers, and probably some British bands that aren't too big abroad: Frightened Rabbit, Los Campesinos! (amongst others).

Books include: Things Fall Apart, Like Water for Chocolate, Midnight's Children, For Whom The Bell Tolls, On The Road (something of a bible for a few people on CS I suppose), Adventures of Kavalier and Clay & Grapes of Wrath.
