About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See, learn from, and enjoy as much of the world as I can.

ABOUT ME

I'm in for meeting new people and grabbing a drink. I'm a former vegetarian of 16 years, really into cycling, books, beer, music, rock climbing, plants, talking, thinking, doing, lots of things.

Graduated from Rutgers University in May 2011, moved to Oah'u, Hawaii in October for AmeriCorps VISTA, then moved back to NJ in March 2012. I now live in Brooklyn and love it :)

Visiting other parts of the world is important to me. I'm saving up money and hoping to travel again soon (Costa Rica? Alaska? Europe?)

PHILOSOPHY

Be curious.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I go to events and surf. I have been wanting to host for months but didn't have the chance - well, I do now! Let me know if you want to visit BK/NYC!

I find myself telling people about CS more and more. I continue realizing how awesome it is for me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

August 2011: a friend and I stayed in Chicago thanks to a great host. It was for three days while we attended Pitchfork Music Festival and he (Jim) made us very comfortable and showed us unbelievable hospitality. The guy had about nine surfers in addition to us--really good times

June 2011: I bicycled from NJ to TN and stayed with great hosts along the way. My love for CS has grown manifold.

July-August 2011: my friend Kirill and I drove all over the US and had a blast. I'll never forget that trip and CSer's have a lot to do w/ that! On our second night we stayed in St. Louis with the founder of a burlesque troupe and got to know a side of the city we probably never would have otherwise

October 2011-March 2012: I moved to O'ahu, Hawaii and spent my winter in paradise. I worked for The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and learned a lot about native Hawaiian people, culture, and the islands in general. I loved Hawaii and I know I'll be back soon. I mean, holy shit Hawaii was cool.

05/2014 - I am officially hosting again! After having been treated so well by my hosts in the past, it is time for me to give back.

Interests

I'm interested in: starting my own company, technology, apps that make my life easier, things that make me feel free.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just finished the Game of Thrones series and I can't wait for book 6!

I just picking up The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen - some somewhat recent favorites: White Noise by Don Delillo, Gospel of Anarchy by Justin Taylor, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, Solaris by Stanisław Lem.

I like music a lot. An arbitrary list of artists I like: Haim, Broken Bells, Big Sir, CHVRCHES, Portishead, Tom Waits, Foals, Jonsi, Kanye, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Maceo & the Macks, The New Pornographers, Radiohead, Refused, Spoon, Maps and Atlases, Crystal Castles, Animal Collective, Phoenix, Bear Vs Shark, Justice, ELO, Beirut, Wu-Tang, Conor Oberst projects, M83, Hella, !!!, Tera Melos, Floyd, Ween, Arcade Fire, Dan Deacon, Deadmau5, Death Cab, ...

As far as film, I like Wes Anderson but I also feel like a dork for saying that. I don't see too many... I liked The Class, Y tu mama tambian, Antichrist (2011) and I liked The Master a lot.

Any recommendations?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the New York City skyline as I jumped out of a plane.

I have driven to the west coast (from NJ to San Diego, up to Seattle, then back) and that included trips to several Redwood national parks. Amazing.

Rode a bicycle over 12,000 miles from New Jersey to Tennessee on a bicycle I put together myself.

I lived in Hawaii.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to fix your bike (tubes, brakes - definitely) and how to ride your bike backwards (maybe).
