About Me

I am a soft, kind-hearted, music-loving soul on the brink of my travelling journey. You will rarely find me without a smile, and I will always try to spread it to as many people as I can. I believe in equality and that we can all, never mind our background or culture, find unity in our vast diversity. I love to hear other people's stories because I believe that we have so much to learn from each other. I am also an animal lover.

I do not have references yet, but please check me out on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dyllan-de-beer-52616b131) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/dyllan.debeer) to get some background info on me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am only starting my travelling journey and I know that I have so much to learn from all the seasoned travellers on Couchsurfing. I love to meet new people and learn from their stories to find out how they do life. Connection is really important to me and I believe that this is one of the best platforms to connect with people, especially people from different cultures that I've never encountered before.

Music, Movies, and Books

My whole life revolves around music. There is always a tune, melody or beat running through my head. My favourite music ranges from Alternative and Indie Rock, to Soul and Hip-Hop, back to Ambient and Folk, and usually ends with Gospel for some well-needed peace.

My favourite movie currently is The Banshees of Inisherin and I'm currently intrigued by the book Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently completed a 110 km (68 miles) mountain bike race. I wasn't adequately prepared for it, so completing it was a real physical and mental challenge. I pushed through the pain and was carried to the finish line by faith. It was a really proud moment for me to have finished such a big challenge and I still look back at all the lessons learnt in those few hours on the bicycle.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe we all have something to learn from each other, so I will always go out of my way to learn something new from everyone I encounter, and to share my own stories to hopefully teach someone else something new. Knowledge, love and kindness are very important to me, and I will go out of my way to not only find that in other people, but also to share it as much as I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a beer and music lover and I have quite extensive knowledge of these topics. I will be more than willing to share any info that I have or just have cool discussions about it. Because I make music, I also have some music to share with hosts.

I am a firm believer in being a good guest, and a good guest never arrives empty-handed. I will always find out what I can bring along, and if the host insists that there is nothing that I can bring, I will (spoiler alert) still bring something nonetheless.
