About Me
CURRENT MISSION
The greatest thing to do is to achieve something greater than your self.
ABOUT ME
I am a wonderer. I was born in the Hauge in Holland and after just 3 months I started to move. To Ecuador, California, Texas, Thailand, Scotland and now I am doing research in renewable technologies at Manchester Uni.
In this time I have learnt that humans as individuals are good, kind and compassionate, and somewhat strange. That science/nature is amazing and that the universe is really quite a large place filled with more amazing things than my mind can come to comprehend.
I hope to keep rambling, in order to see new things, meet new people and have new experiences.
I wish I had the time and money to pursue the many crazy ideas I have, but for the mean time chemistry research is my main past time (with a lot of music and dancing to boot).
I hope at some point to travel far enough into space to see the transition of when our blue sky turns purple and then into black. I hope to see new things!
PHILOSOPHY
I am fundamentally un-fundamentalist, because the most interesting things happen between the extremes, at the interface between nothing and infinity.
I also believe that an adventure is merely a inconvenience rightly considered, and an inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love meeting new people and making new connections. As our brains and the internet has shown us; an entity can be interesting. But it is when you start to make connections between entities that a whole new level of complexity and amazingness springs forth. One that is beyond imagination.
I hope to make connections with new people and if possible help improve their life by any amount be it nano or galatic.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couch surfing is an amazing idea, which just goes to show how amazing humankind can be (if only we and others like us were in charge of the world!)
Interests
I am interested in
Science (especially the natural world and the interlink between simplicity and complexity)
Art (especially 'Op-Art', where the design of the art is to show that our eyes and senses can be so easily fooled)
Music (because without it there is a deafly silence)
Dancing (because how can you possibly resist?)
Diabolo, juggling and other entertaining skills
Bubbles! (their spherical beauty, and topological complexity)
Bees (a superorganism that produces so many amazing things)
Psychology (because our minds and interactions are an endless source of amusement and fascination)
Glass blowing (because it's so awesome! Check out a Kline Bottle)
Origami (because there's so much than can be done with paper)
Creation (because it feels so much better than consumption)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I love to look at the stars at night while on a plane, when the nights sky seems to be almost fully encompassing. I like to watch where the sky meets the clouds, and try to work out where if that barrier actually exists.
I have travelled with my best friend from Marrakech to Orkney, travelling most of the distance by bus, and meeting interesting people and having a great time on the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am always learning new origami, and teaching it to who ever is willing to learn.
I know various circus skills (juggling/diabolo).
I love making and blowing bubbles.
I love teaching people what I know, and I love learning from people who are passionate about what ever it is they do, to me passion is more important than subject.
I hope to learn what ever will be taught to me (thank you Wikipedia/TED)
