About Me
Hi , welcome to my profile!
My name is Maria,
I'm Ukrainian,
3 years ago I moved to Germany because of my German boyfriend
I'm currently studying for my bachelor's in environmental economy.
(It's okay,if you don't read it all, feel free to send your request anyways.
I have a strong tendency of writing too much since I've learned how to write. Maybe one day I will write a book or two. )
So. For those who have more time / curiosity .
I'm on CS since I turned 18, almost 3 years . Since then it was one of the nicest experiences in my life.
I feel like couchsurfing people are my kind of people , my mindset community.
I used it a few times in Europe couple of times and then during our 6 months trip in Turkey with my boyfriend, we nearly always stayed with hosts, it made me see the world from several different perspectives , see different daily routines and lifestyles, all the people were warm hearted and helpful, with many of them we are still good friends . I remember and value every single person . It was amazing, to feel like home ,to feel so comfortable with people you just met.
I've learned a lot thanks to CS and finally me and my boyfriend settle down in Germany, so we are welcoming the guests in Idar Oberstein , a small town in Rheinland Palatinate state .
After we both finish our education,we are planning to do some big trips ,months or maybe years long , stay and work in different countries for a while. Also lately it became clear to me ,that I also miss Ukraine and see my future there. After gaining all this international experience I hope to be useful there.
I'm trying to make my life more interesting and meaningful by learning and traveling. So far , I realized adult life gives you freedom but also challenges. I'm greatfull to the universe for the chances I was given and for troubles I was forced with . It made me stronger ,not as strong as I want to be yet but I'm still learning.
HOBBYS:
I like to study, especially to learn new languages. Currently focused on spanish.
I'm trying to keep myself active and to exercise. Hiking is a nice way to spend time too. Luckily I live in the mountains.
I go to the gym and like to do some yoga occasionally.
SOME PHILOSOPHY:
I don't believe in life after death or reincarnation so I guess it's very important to enjoy and to make this life full of sense , feelings and experiences. Not always positive ones , but so is life.
I believe in gender equality and I hope the vision of society about gender roles will change in the next decades. This is ridiculous that some people limit others or some women limit themselves under the pressure of culture just because they have some different organs. I truly judge and don't understand sexist, racist and homophobic people.
I believe that we all caused climate change and are continuously brutally mistreating the nature . This is pretty much the most important challenge for humanity nowadays and serious decisions should be made as soon as possible. We should not do it to save the planet, but to save us. The planet can survive. We may not if we continue like this. We forget that we are just small useless creatures in front of our mighty Earth. We are just temporary here , we are guests and we must learn to respect house rules .
ABOUT UKRAINE:
Also I can tell you more about Ukrainian history and culture . This is the small way I'm trying to help foreigners to understand Ukraine and the issues of nowadays war. It's a beautiful country indeed , with sad , complicated history. Now we are giving the final fight to establish ourselves as a known and respected nation and an independent state in Europe.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm sure that traveling is possible for everyone who really wants it, there is always a way.
No matter how old , rich you are and where are you from.
I don't judge people who use Couchsurfing also to safe money , but only if they are more travelers ,not tourists and are sharing something with the hosts . Budget traveling is the most adventurous and romantic. I traveled 6 months around Turkey and to be honest I wouldn't afford it if not my amazing Turkish hosts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got married with 19.
(Didn't expect it from my life)
I met one german guy in a hostel in Istanbul and he asked me to go with him to Iranian consulate and to walk around the old town .... And I said yes... Then we decided to travel together... I had 150€ on my bank account and my visa was not valid anymore but I thought fuck it, let's try the luck. I worked online on freelance and we traveled many months on one motorcycle using Couchsurfing. Great times. Then we got married, I was 19 back then, it was not so long ago.
He is a miracle of my life , the best thing is that I have ever done/seen/felt and will ever find.
