ABOUT ME

Im 19 and Canadian... My name is Emma. In January 2009, I moved to Italy, my first time travelling alone and not living at home. And its totally the BEST THING I have ever done! So far, haha. Im here to work as an au pair for 2 little children. But I am also here to learn italian (hopefully by the time I leave in June), and to see as much of Italy as I can! Ive been to Pisa and to Venice (wowzers!) and next on the agenda is Sardegna! Followed by Rome, Volturra and Cinque Terra. I love travelling and Im not sure where or what I will do when my working visa expires in June, I just know that if I dont find a job again soon then Ill have to return to Canada, and I dont want to! Which is where couchsurfing comes in.... I hope I can live off peoples couches all over Europe for at least all of July!!! :D But Im fun and adventurous and open minded, so you will all love me!

PHILOSOPHY

Hahah okay first I just had to google the word Philosophy.
But in general, I think people spend too much money on STUFF! Just things in general, junk that no one really needs! So I am trying this thing where I spend money on experiences, such as travelling. I dont need to have more clothes or jewelry and all that shit! Its only going to clutter up my room, and what the hell am I going to do with it when its time to pack up and leave? I cant really bring everything with me, so its waste of money to buy it! Id rather save $$ and spend it on a trip to Africa as opposed to having a new pair of jeans.
This is my theory at least, its harder than it sounds. But Ive even let my friends cut my hair because Im cheap, and now thanks to Vickie and Renee my hair is cut all nice and crooked.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At first I had one lady from Cardiff stay on my couch back in Canada. Then my sister moved out and she started taking everyone to her house, because there are hardly any couchsurfers in our town. Basically I hang out with them and we have fun together!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just hosting one person, then hanging out with the rest. And I accidently forgot about meeting this one guy, Adam, hopefully he will read this and know Im sorry and feel bad haha!

Interests

I like bicycles!! And I just got my diving certification :D So that will be a new hobby hopefully. I want to learn to surf! I love going out doors, to do things like explores trails (hiking) and camping, and just lazing on the beach :) I also really like dancing! But not lessons, just going out dancing in general, which ties in with "I like going to bars" with my friends!
ALSO my main interest is TRAVELLING! Which is why Im in Italy, duh.
When Im not outside, I just like to read and google new locations to go to, and sometimes watch movies! But here in Italy I have no TV, which I think is really good for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ill admit I read twilight. And the rest of the series. And Harry Potter. I like all sorts of books, not really old ones though, or serious ones, but Ive tried to read Jane Austen and one day Ill actually finish the book Emma. Im reading a good book called "The Game." So all you players out there, Im onto you!!! And my favorite magazine is National Geographic!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing Ive done..... obviously too many to list. But the first one that comes to mind, is...
DIVING! Just wow. Its like nothing Ive ever seen or done before, its a whole other world down there. I felt like a mermaid :)

Teach, Learn, Share

In my opinion, nowadays people dont spend enough time with other people! We dont talk in person, we send emails! I love the idea of couchsurfing because it allows you to be in contact with other people! Dont you get lonely staying a big hotel room all alone? I dont have money to do that alone, but I know I prefer to be sleeping on your floor!!
