About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Research in Romania!

ABOUT ME

I like cities! I like travel! I like exploring new places, things, ideas!

PHILOSOPHY

I really like the line from Leonard Cohen's poem Anthem: "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few visitors when I was living in Moldova as Peace Corps volunteer, and I am looking to get back into the CS community now because I am back living in Romania, and hope to meet other people from all over.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests

Cities, history, progressive politics (more on the political economy side of things rather than the campaigns, etc.), bicycling, literature, policy and urban planning (i.e. my degree subjects), good food, coffee, tea, beer, crafts, hitchiking in countries where I speak the language, good music. More of a coffee person than a beer person, but I've been known to go out from time to time. Trying to get out into nature more these days as well...just bought a tent, and have done some camping, with hopefully a bit more to come!

Music, Movies, and Books

hmm...I tend to like indie films and music. Once upon a time I read many many wonderful novels, but lately for school all my reading is for classes. I have really enjoyed some of the urban theory readings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm...I feel like this question is a lot of commitment. Hitchhiking across Scotland was pretty cool :-) I'm also a fan of jaw-dropping and vibrent cities. Some of my favorites: In North America: Toronto, Chicago, New York, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Montreal. In Europe: Berlin, Budapest, Edinburgh, Ljubljana, Istanbul

Countries I’ve Visited

China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Moldova, Romania, United States
