HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the summer of 2013 i will walk from Gothenburg, Sweden to Veldhoven, the Netherlands. As with any journey of epic proportions I of course have a reason (there are also at least 10 reasons why it is unnecessary but hey, ART!)

In 2009 I started working on a book called 'Pilgrimage', with drawings of every house I have ever lived in. Right from the start my plan was to send this book to all thouse houses. Upon completion in 2012 I still wanted to do so, but while working on this project I got more and more curious about the reaction people would have. Having someone on your doorstep who claims to not only have lived in your house but -OMG!- was squatting it must be an interesting experience and certainly a good start for a heartfelt discussion about living, housing and how we feel about that.

Being the sucker for laborious projects that I am, I decided walking would be the best way to reach those people. And if I'm staying in a lot of places on my way there I may as well ask people in those places how they feel about living and housing. I want to collect these stories, film them, write about them, and maybe draw some conclusions or just be utterly confused but in a very well-researched way.

To do this I of course need all the help I can get, so look up my route on my website, see if you know someone who lives on it (no way like the presence to force some art upon your distant relatives!) and make me extremely happy!

I can fix a lot of things (clothes, furniture, basic electronic stuff) and i know a lot about printmaking.
