ABOUT ME

I am 25 years old and from Alberta, Canada. In March 2012, I traded in my office cubicle and apartment for a camera and a backpack and set off on a solo, budget trip across Europe and South America. After that, I relocated to the Netherlands, and currently live in Amsterdam.

People say that home is where the heart is. My heart is a wanderer and has found a home in various cities across the globe.

My passion for travel began when I was ten. I was born in the bedroom community of St. Albert, Alberta. Despite being a very pleasant place to grow up, the city is a poor reflection of broader society. My parents were determined to expose my brother and me to the world outside our white, middle-class bubble. In the year 2000, they pulled us out of school, rented a Volkswagen Westfalia, and took us on a six month tour of Europe.

Since then, travel has become one of the most important aspects of my life. I count the days between trips before I've even returned home, and I've shaped my lifestyle around my desire to travel.

PHILOSOPHY

The last twelve years have brought me to around 40 countries on five continents. But, more important than the numbers are the incredible friendships I've made and the experiences I've had.

Interests

-I love to travel, love languages and writing.
-Love to learn more about photography
- More than anything else at the moment, I am crazy about salsa dancing. I danced on a salsa team in Canada (briefly), and made a point of visiting salsa clubs throughout South America. So far, it's been a great way to make friends!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love anything historical fiction, be it books or films. Some of my favourite movies are Gone With the Wind, It's A Wonderful Life, and Black Book.

I love latin music, especially salsa, bachata, cha cha, and zouk. Other than that, I like a lot of world music, country, top 40, and alternative rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the highlights of my South America journey was riding in a helicopter over Iguazu Waterfalls in Brazil. Some of the best money I've ever spent.
