ABOUT ME
I've always enjoy doing things on the spur of the moment...never planning , just doing. Having retired and moving to Costa Rica 5 years ago, I'm realize the importance of learning a new language and feel challenged at this point in my life. My partner and I , Mike, have been together for over 12 years, and we are enjoying the challenges and benefits of being able to live the lifestyle the local Ticos call Pura Vida!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At this point of my life, all I can say is how lucky I feel to be living in these times... When I stop and think about all those that lived before us, with their contributions and struggles of just surviving, and now we are enjoying the fruits of their labor...it's all amazingly incredible how much each of us are so lucky to be able to enjoy just being alive.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A friend has been a part of a part of CS for several years, and she says she had nothing but good things to say about her experiences...so I thought , why not not try it out?
Interests
Since moving to Costa Rica, my first passion was discovering I had this hidden talent to paint.. and have surprised myself with the works I've produced... from abstracts to real life, and occasionally murals... and the truth be told is my greatest thrill comes from people that say they appreciate my works...something about being told how much they like my art.
My second passion is to be engaged in the community. there is a network of gringos that get involved in the community needs and it has always been rewarding to be a part of the this community. Heck, let's face it...as gringos, we've been so spoiled to have access to all those material things that we think makes one happy...and to see the smiles on the many poor people that live with absolutely nothing ...it's something that makes one stand back and take a second look as to what we think is really important.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
First, to see the how the culture here in Costa Rica takes care of the elderly...Every household around us has the grandparents living with their adult kids that are having their own kids. Reminds me of the way it use to be in the states.
Second, being truthful here...meeting my partner of 12 years..seems like only yesterday. To say I am fulfilled in everyway with him is an understatement.
