Where do I start? I am re-writing my profile because so much has changed in the 10 years that I have been a member. Life has been moving swiftly! I am trying to learn to enjoy the ride. I became single a couple of years ago, my beloved dog Ranger has passed away, and I only have 2 boys still living at home. That said, please understand that I have decided to only host females or couples that HAVE REFERENCES and some VERIFICATION...NO SINGLE men. Thanks for understanding.

ABOUT ME:
After being a stay-at-home mom and many years of that spent homeschooling kids...I have found myself single. I decided to go back to school so that I could work for myself and not someone else. Now I am a licensed esthetician and also a licensed "tattoo artist"...I don't really do tattoo's. I do something called "microblading", it's a form of tattooing the eyebrows. --you can google to get the idea.

I have 4 sons. They all live in Wilmington. The oldest is married and has his own little family.
My next boy lives with his dad. The youngest two live with me and were adopted in 2010, they are 14 and 15 years old.

If you stay with us...hygiene is important. Washing hands and showering are greatly appreciated. ;)

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in keeping things to a minimum.

I've decided there are more things in life to spend our time, energy and money on. We don't want to work every day of our lives and miss out on the wonderful opportunities life has to offer.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

2018 update: I haven't been hosting the past few years. Just too much happening in life. Things are finally settled and I am looking forward to meeting new people again and sharing life.

In 2014, I hosted a young lady from Mexico. She came so that she could pass an oral exam for English and land a better job in Mexico. --it worked! She got on with an automotive company.

For 10 weeks, the summer of 2009, I hosted a teenager from Italy through couchsurfing. It was nice and I had a great experience having a "daughter".

Besides couchsurfing, I have hosted 2 other foreign exchange high school students.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience has been on and off for 10 years. I have hosted families, couples, and single people. I have been hosted by families and single people. My boys have always enjoyed meeting new people, especially foreigners.

Intereses

Education is important...and not necessarily the sort you get behind a desk. I enjoy a mind that is eager to hear and learn new things. I believe in holistic health as much as possible....but I will go to modern medicine for a broken arm. I am SICK of political talk...I just can't hear it anymore, let us not engage it.

This past year (2017-18) I have attempted to travel more. I have visited Costa Rica, Cancun, San Diego, Quebec, Tijuana, and a few various states.

I have mostly lived in Ohio, Texas and now 12 years here in North Carolina.

I guess adopting children is amazing to some. To me, it just seemed a natural thing to do.

I learned to surf last year in Costa Rica....I loved it.

I have twice hosted high school foreign exchange students through a govt. program. One from Moldova and one from Colombia. Then a teen from Italy through couchsurfing. It worked out well and with webcam and such she was able to speak to her parents daily.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

A sense of peace and calm. I enjoy conversation, but I am not an overly chatty person. I have an opinion but I am past the age of trying to convince anyone that my opinion is correct. LOL. I am an esthetician...I could give you a facial...if you have never had one, it's as relaxing as a massage.
