About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Tame a giraffe and teach it to pick pears for me.
ABOUT ME
I've been in Israel for about 6 months. I've spent my time researching at an environmental institute, working on a goat farm, hiking the Israel Trail, and helping baby sea turtles get from their nests out to the ocean! Now I'm thinking about settling down somewhere in Israel for a while. I'm pretty awesome at cooking and not a bad conversationalist. So far couchsurfing has been all about good energy, exciting opportunities and awesome new friends in my life!
PHILOSOPHY
"In the time of your life live, so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it."
- William Saroyan
Keep moving when it feels good to move. Stay still when you are needed, but always for the right reasons. If the miracle of love comes into your heart, for anyone or anything, hold it there as long as you can. It's like a kite in the wind. Pray for wisdom, but know that the greatest source of wisdom is humanity - even perhaps those humans you never thought wise. See another perspective. Strive for grace. And never give up.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I feel blessed to have experienced so much generosity from my CS hosts on my journey. When I settle down in one spot I'm going to open up the doors (and couches) to CS'ers for sure!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The Guy on the Couch: Hey, is it January?
Thurgood Jenkins: No, it's August.
The Guy on the Couch: Really?
Interests
Cooking, eating (it follows logically, right?), outdoorsing, and meeting amazing people!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While I looked at the ocean from Hinchinbrook Island in Australia, a manta ray breached the surface and jumped two meters in the air. As I stared mouth agape at the spot where it disappeared back in the water, it jumped again.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love cooking, eating, teaching people to cook, eating with people, etc... you get the idea. If you'd like to cook a meal I'm always game. My specialties are Thai, Vietnamese, and East Asian.
I'd love to learn more Hebrew and Arabic. And always looking to get a few more chords on the guitar...
