Overview
About Me
I'm a student studying film and writing, though I am transferring schools (Penn State to Pitt) and may change my majors to writing and philosophy. I like screenwriting, and I've written and directed a few shorts. I also enjoy comedy writing and have been performing stand up for the last two years. I visited Israel last summer and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I didn't have a spiritual moment, but it was the first time I'd ever really travelled to a different part of the world. I hiked Masada, which to this day is one of my favorite experiences. When I graduate from college I intend to take some time to at least travel through South America.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been studying film for the past two years and I have been given the incredible opportunity to intern on a Woody Allen film shooting in Brooklyn this upcoming month. This has always been a dream of mine but the cost of living in New York even for a month is prohibitive. For this reason I'm reaching out to the good people of couch surfing to see if anyone could put me up for even a night or two, anything helps.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite band is Pink Floyd. I listen to a lot of classic rock, folk, and jazz. Right now I'm working my way through Frank Zappa and Coltrane. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. Margaret Atwood is another amazing author, I can't recommend her novel The Blind Assassin enough. A few of my favorite movies are Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Birdman, Full Metal Jacket. A Boy and his Dog, and Porco Rosso. I could talk about any of these for hours. I am currently reading The Brothers Karamazov.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I made a short film last year outside of classes. Everyone working on it was already so busy that it is astounding that we were able to pull it off. Production was a mess, and I don't think the final product is great, but we filmed everything and I learned so many things that will help me on my next short.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach basic film making and photography to hosts who are interested. I am not familiar with the New York stand up scene, but I can also help anyone who is interested in comedy put together a five minute set and get over any stage fright they may have!
I would love to learn about eastern philosophy. I know a fair bit about western philosophy, and I am always looking to learn more. I would also love to learn about other cultures, any form of art, any movies or books that you'd recommend, and how to cook. Really, I am interested in learning anything you care to teach.
I recently started my yoga practice and would love a partner(s) to do it with.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you are interested in discussing ideas over a cup of coffee, I think you will find me to be an enjoyable guy.
