I'm a PhD student from India. My general field of interest is how social environments shape individual behaviour. Even though I work on Honey bees currently, my general interest lies in how different people are shaped by the society to respond and think in a particular way. I'm very curious about how different cultures differ in their norms as well as how similar they are. I'm particularly interested in meeting people from different places and trying to see the world from their point of view.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to explore and understand the diversity in how various people view the world around. I want to get to know how being part of a society drives a person to think, eat, cook, talk and do everything else in a particular way, which might be completely different from what I'm used to. Couchsurfing will also give me a way to get to know others who might share my same enthusiasm and appreciation for the diversity in our species.

Interests

I would say that I'm a reader first and foremost. I would like nothing better than a good book as a travelling companion. Particularly if the book is high fantasy or science fiction. I also write every now and then and dabble in poetry (although my poems always tend to be too grim and dark). I also love comics and graphic novels.
I am also an amateur photographer, and am interested in capturing how places differ in their small details, from the way that people cross the road to how food is presented. But I'm also interested in nature and insect photography.
I'm also a PC gamer, spending some of my free time on strategy games like Crusader Kings 2 and XCOM.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Frank Herbert's Dune series would top the list of my favourite books. I also like reading non fiction occasionally.
I love indie music, like Mumford and Sons, The Head and the Heart, Lord Huron etc. I also like listening to classical music and my current favourite artist is Ludovico Einaudi.
As far as movies go, one word should suffice : Nolan!
