About Me

Part-writer, part-professional bum, busy schooning my way round the world and seeing what happens! I'm trained in the yeasty land of craft beer, and I've been helping run hostels through Europe; getting intimate with bunk beds for a good few years now. Settled in the East Fjords of Iceland managing the bar in a small microbrewery for the summer!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm up for meeting some lush people to have a few laughs, a beer or two... or three, adventures always, dynamic conversation and to share our slices of this strange planet with.

Interests

(all of the cliches)
Adventuring, photography, writing, music, hiking, yoga. I love a cheeky beer. And laughter - excessively and extensively. Iceland has me hooked on sneaking into hot springs after midnight and getting up to mischief. I forget that I'm almost a qualified tap dance teacher. I've been a vegetarian for more than a decade :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently playing Jono McCleery as I struggle to write this. All of the Bon Iver and Icelandic experimental jazz/folk/electro. A cheeky bit of ambient electro/lofi hiphop always. Subtle stubbly men with guitars. But avicii and rudimental for dancing on tables and bemusing hostel guests.

I (idealistically) have my guitar L plates firmly plastered on.

Lit which came from the American expats living in Paris in the 20s is pretty rad. With a bit of Atwood and Morrison thrown in. And Judith Butler - I'd marry her in a heartbeat. And poetry of course, all of the crazy experimental contemporary poetry the Americans are making at the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being stuffed in the back of a de-commissioned ambulance with a bunch of antique furniture and being driven from rural Czech farms back to the railway station where I was working/living/renovating, was pretty mad!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been spreading my love for the cup song from Pitch Perfect around Europe like an STI. It's a horribly guilty pleasure.
