About Me

Neruda said it better....
"Of the many men whom I am, whom we are,
I cannot settle on a single one.
They are lost to me under the cover of clothing
They have departed for another city."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Was wandering around some parts of the world, drinking sparkling water among other beverages of sorts; seeking music. Insight and good company from locals and fellow travelers bring me here.

Interests

I believe myself to be a person that loves too many things at once, though all those things overlap one another. There is nothing I love more than to feel excited and to feel at home. Music gets me there, although I don’t have the gift for it myself - I indulge by listening, dancing, and singing very loud in my car. My current interest (and goal) is currently developing in the world of wine, which is endless and most inspiring. I dream of working and learning about different Georgian grape varietals in the vineyards and cellars of the Imereti region that keep traditional Wine-making practices/techniques using qvevris.
I love talking about film, photography, and all types of visual art. I love nature. I love learning about people through their story-telling. If you ever talk to me, I will most likely bring up my grandparents - who are my dearest and most beloved muses; with all that said, I only hope to make genuine connections along the way and have a good time. Life is sweeter when you can share the things you love with others.

Music, Movies, and Books

As I mentioned, music and film are very important to me... A never ending list would come out of this if I named everything I like, so I’ll stick to my most current and personal greatest hits:

M U S I C:
Romani music and all the distinct wonderful regions their diaspora has touched (Lautaresca and Macedonian brass happen to be my favorite). Samba, bossanova, salsa, flamenco, tuareg, caribbean folk, Ethiopian funk/jazz, classical (romantic, baroque, 20th C). "Traditional" music is where it is at, but I can't complain about innovation. I’ll get down to reggaeton and manele anytime, any day. Also down with rap, trap, all variations of rock n roll, new wave, 1920s-1990s, etc etc etc.

F I L M:
Agnes Varda, Pedro Almodovar, Tony Gatlif, and Wim Wenders.

B O O K S:
currently... The Book of Laughable Loves by Milan Kundera.
in the past... Henry Miller, Roberto Bolano, Marcel Schwob, Fernando Pessoa and man -- too many authors sitting on my bookshelf; the beats, the romantics, the russians, the french, fairy tales, the latin americans, the scientists, the musicians, the existentialists, the ethnographers...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stories are better shared in person. (NYE 2012 and all the crazy summers spent in even crazier situations).

Teach, Learn, Share

Kindness is necessary and forever revolutionary. Everything is a lesson, and I just want to keep learning and feeling excited about life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My best behavior as a guest. Gratitude, cleanliness, openness, good times, exchange of stories, and whatever I got available in my luggage. Also a guarantee that mi casa es tu casa.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Cuba, France, Hungary, Mexico, Romania, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Mexico, United States
