Worked as a software engineer at a giant database company for two years after graduating in Beijing, China. Left the job and came to US 15 months ago, have been to lots of cities in US. Now living in Newport Beach, CA with my husband and 3 awesome athletic college roommates.

I had good and bad experiences before with other hosts. I found a specific guideline helped me a lot to be a better guest. So here is some things I'd like my guests to know in advance so everyone is on the same page. Yeah, blame me for being a nerdy engineer:)

1. Please read this carefully and make the decision if we can enjoy a very good host-guest relationship. I still keep in touch with my CS hosts from before and I'd love to keep in touch with my guests too. I definitely hope this is not one-time thing.

2. Please copy "CSISAWESOME" and send it to me as a request. This way I can filter out those people who just spam hosts and hope to get a free hotel.

3. For people sincerely looking for a good experience here would understand this is a reasonable request. Please understand this is CS, not free hotel, the purpose of this is to facilitate your trip and establish a good relationship with locals. We are very welcoming to people who love sharing and taking your time talking or hanging out with us.

4. We are professionals and students. We'd expect you to come back before midnight, 11pm would be appreciated. If you do have something coming up, we'd appreciate you to give us a call in advance.

5. We understand mutual respect is very important, so we'll give you enough space and make you feel comfortable.

6. We like enjoying jacuzzi, sitting around the fireplace having a drink. We'll probably grill steak and things for a nice relaxing weekend.

7. Our place is very close to the beach. A lot of festivals and events going on there. Also as summer is coming, we'll do surfing, hiking and other outdoor activities.

8. Please list your interests and things you can do with us.

9. A small gift representing your culture or your work or just yourself would be appreciated. So we'd have something to remember you. Again, we want to keep people as friends even after they leave.

10. We can only do up to 2 nights for each guest. But we'd do 3 if you are an awesome guest.

11. We want you to have a nice experience here in SoCal~I'm sure you'll love this place

Quit my boring but good-pay job and came to a totally new country without any plans but somehow found my place. I followed my heart and grew a lot during this whole transition and journey.

I as a foreigner here in America, am learning new things everyday. I think it's really easy for me to connect to people traveling to different countries.

We like all kinds of outdoor activities and are always ready to try new things. My husband and I are both hospitable people. We like discussing all kinds of things, politics, psychology, art, history, culture, science, etc. Sometimes it can get very deep, intense, even aggressive. :) I would never miss any chance to learn and talk with people to expand our knowledge and exchange our experiences.

I am a true food lover. But unfortunately, I am a bad cook. I appreciate a lot if people could cook me good food. So bring one of your favorite recipes with you. We'd be very pleased.
