About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Constant self-improvement & better understanding of the world

ABOUT ME

I'm Kyle. I'm pretty new in Boulder and eager to get involved in the CouchSurfing community some more. I really like navel-gazing, pop culture, fancy culture, being outdoors, and learning about things that aren't shitty. Come hang out.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm alright if you're alright.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only hosted so far, which has been nothing but fantastic. I really look forward to surfing with people as soon as I possibly can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It blows me away that I've been able to make such deep connections just by opening my door and seeing who stumbles in. I've hosted a couple people and have attended an event, and I become more aware with each experience that the CS community has some of the nicest and most genuine people out there.

Interests

I'm either unhealthily obsessed or healthily occupied with music, depending on how you view it. I lovelovelove going to concerts, even if I feel a little guilty about being 6'4 and having the best view in the place occasionally at the expense of others.

Books and movies are also pretty important to me, as are sports (particularly basketball and football). I watch HGTV and go antiquing with my parents unironically (should I have put this up that high on my list?), I love dogs and animals too much, and nothing leaves me quite as fulfilled as a walk or bike ride in nature. I'd also include: writing, taking pictures of bands and animals and buildings, eating & drinking (both necessity and hedonism), using parentheticals, city/urban planning, travelling, and since this is CouchSurfing, I'll include the necessary "exploring."

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Andrew Bird,The Tallest Man on Earth, Bon Iver, Andrew Bird Sufjan Stevens, James Blake, Iron & Wine, Devendra Banhart, Sigur Ros, Future Islands, St. Vincent, Titus Andronicus, Bob Dylan, Das Racist, Kanye West, Arcade Fire

Movies & Television: I'm pretty unashamedly in love with my television (well, Netflix). Constantly being out and about is fantastic, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't cave into ordering a pizza and watching an entire season of Arrested Development last week.

Books: Catch-22 is my all-time favorite, along with A Confederacy of Dunces and One Hundred Years of Solitude. I love captivating nonfiction, too, like Guns, Germs & Steel and Into Thin Air.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've never left the United States, but Yosemite National Park made me feel like I was in a different world.

Bonnaroo 2012 was one of the greatest weekends of my life. I'm making it a yearly tradition even if I have to start selling organs on the black market to foot the bill.

^I went again in 2013 and it just reaffirmed that it's the greatest place on earth.

Teach, Learn, Share

Oh man, I'll buy just about anything necessary if you'll show me how to whip up a meal. I grew up eating microwaved pasta and Pop-Tarts, so even cracking an egg successfully gives me a huge sense of satisfaction.

I'm not really sure what I can teach, to be honest.
