Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To create a better world for my children and yours.
ABOUT ME
I'm driven by an inward focus on honest introspection and an outward focus on surviving the coming epoch in a world less and less suitable for human habitation. I have long been engaged in efforts toward sustainable living and anti-racism. I have built a small working model of sustainable living around me in the form of gardens, pastures, electric cars, wood heat, biodiesel and human powered vehicles. My professional life puts me in close contact with people of cultures different from my own, but I am always interested in adding more diversity to my life. Archery is my favorite past time.
PHILOSOPHY
I am fairly certain that only thing that can be known is that we cannot know anything for sure. I strive therefore to check my arrogance with humility, to explore a wide range of feelings and philosophies, and take on faith that my children are the real reason I am living my life. I also try to not to over examine my life as my tendency to think too much will otherwise paralyze me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I used to host when I had a good set up for it. Now I'm in need of a couch for my son and I.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus, V for Vendetta, Little Shop of Horrors, wish I had more time for movies...
Music: From classic rock, to 90s grunge, from there back through contemporary folk to bluegrass, blues and jazz. Occasionally go to the symphony to pay respect to the masters and get out of my rut.
Books: Lately a lot of self help books and buddhist writings. Fond of history (the People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn, the Anexation of Mexico by John Ross), anthropology (though not in a while and nothing comes to mind) and sustainability (the humanure handbook by Jenson and Gaviotis are top of the list).

Teach, Learn, Share
We're most interested in exchanges that spread what we (think we) know about sustainability and allow us to learn more about it with others. Anyone who stays with us is likely to encounter some lifestyle adjustments. We'd be happy to show people how I make biodiesel from waste vegetable oil or how we catch rainwater or how we farm. Anyone who can help with THAT would be most welcome on my couch.
