About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue my evolution and making my dreams and ambitions a reality.

ABOUT ME

I appreciate and value life and many different things about it. I believe that I am here on this earth both to evolve into my 'best self' and to help people as much as I can. I enjoy being with people, having fun, helping others, learning and having adventures. I am love travelling and visiting new places and meeting new people. I love the outdoors and spend as much time as I can walking, both in towns and in the countryside. We have two legs for a reason! Hills, mountains and lakes are my favourite scenery, but I also love being by the sea. I am slightly attached to my ipod because music can get me through anything and I do love to dance and sing along to favourite songs. I'm very interested in world events and politics, and I'm a bit of a closet campaigner. Environmental issues and international development are the closest to my heart. I also love learning languages, but I'm still trying to master French after more years than I care to remember! I also enjoy doing sport- yoga, swimming, tennis, running in particular.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't follow a particular faith but my philosophy draws a lot on Buddhist principles. I believe I am here to help people as much as I possibly can, and to be as fully evolved as I can. I am pretty spiritual and believe that if you put good out into the Universe, that the Universe will bring good things back to you, even if it takes a while. I also believe that things happen for a reason, or at least that there is a positive path leading away from every experience. I try not to judge people, to be open and honest, to see good in everyone and to treat people the way I would like them to treat me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My CS account is in debit because I have been hosted a lot more than I have been able to host! But I am always willing to meet people and as soon as I have my own place again, I will welcome people to it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It has opened my eyes to the generosity of the human spirit and shown me some of the best than humankind has to offer. Life-shifting.

Interests

Singing, dancing, reading, talking, walking, sport, shopping, travelling, sightseeing, learning, meeting people, trying new things, cooking, eating....pretty much anything. I challenge you to find something I don't like doing!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch much TV, but I am a huge fan of Sex and the City, even after all these years. The world can be a pretty depressing place at times, so I like things that make me feel happy and more positive about things like Little Miss Sunshine, and warm, reflective films like Searching for Sugarman and those by Richard Linklater. Book-wise, I like things that make me think about the world, myself and my place in it, be they spiritual, psychological, factual or fictional. I am very into Haruki Murakami at the moment, and I am working my way through the works of Paolo Coelho.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping out underneath the stars in the middle of the Morrocan Sahara was THE most amazing experience of my life......

And drivng along the Western Cape coastline in South Africa was absolutely STUNNING! But that said, my favourite place in the world is a national park in England called the Lake District- very small, but perfectly, perfectly formed. As a city, Paris is an amazing experience every single time I go there and I simply adore it. And a place in the Swiss Alps called Lauterbrunnen is my other favourite spot.

Teach, Learn, Share

You can't expect anyone else to love you until you have learnt to love yourself. Because otherwise, you're expecting someone on the outside to see things in you that you can't see within yourself. And no-one is closer to us, no-one knows us even half as well as we know ourselves. We all have to try to be our own best friend.

And do as much good as you can in the world, and you will receive much goodness in return.
