About Me
CURRENT MISSION
World is filled with friends who I have not yet met.
ABOUT ME
I love to travel and consider myself a planetary citizen. I am fortunate that my husband worked for United Airlines for 16 years so we can travel for next to nothing. I am political and social activist with most of my energy going to the Green Party. I have been involved with the intentional communities movement since the 70s and currently live in a community my husband and I are developing called San Mateo Ecovillage. We are also involved with the sustainability, permaculture, urban homesteading movements.
We also have a 39ac property on the Olympic Peninsula near Port Townsend and are building a house there in 2015-2016. Certainly lots of room if folks want to camp.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One of the people in my community told me about Couch Surfing, but I hesitated to join because I presumed it was all young people. Now I know it is also for the young at heart. It is renewing some of my excitement that I had during the 70s when I would travel and presume there were lots of friends I had not yet met. I use to look on the bulletin board at health food stores, but this is much better.
In October 2009, I had my first experience with couch surfing, staying with a delightful and charming young man from S. Carolina in Weisbaden, Germany the night before my Frankfurt flight back to San Francisco.
My second experience was even better that the first, six great days with Alberto Moreno in Santiago, Chile.
I enjoyed staying with some folks from the CS network in June 2010 in Detroit while attending the US Social Forum.
Since then I have stayed with CSers in Ashland, OR, Castle Rock, CO (2x), and Ventura, CA. In November 2011 had an amazing week near Paris. Over the years, we have had several staying with us.
Interests
When you have been on the planet as long as I have, you develop a lot of interests, but although many decades ago, my father told me I would lose the values that I held dear in the 70s, I am pleased to report that I haven't. Most of my interests are around the areas of social and political activism, environmentalism, sustainability, non-consumerism, and cooking and eating good food.
My latest passion had been drumming, something I have wanted to do since high school. I studied conga with John Santos and enjoy playing djembe in drum circles. I'm afraid I have not done much of that lately...though still hope to learn to use drum sticks. Tai chi has also come and gone in my life.
