About Me

Hi everyone! I am a Mexican guy living in Clifton, just 45 minutes from New York City where I have been working for the last 5 years. I would describe myself as a quiet but curious person who is fascinated by other cultures and the differences that make us all interesting . After living away from my hometown I have now the wish to see other places in the world as much as life allows me. I love the idea of meeting new people from different countries, learning from everyone I meet and making good friends. I hope couchsurfing helps achieve this dream. I consider myself a little shy, but I always try to be kind. I believe kindness, respect and values like compassion can bring us all together. Sharing other people's viewpoints and stories can be an enriching experience in my opinion and I am willing to learn and share as much as I can. I am interested in anything related to art, music, museums and multi-cultural events. But I also enjoy simple nice moments like a hike in the park, a nice conversation around a cup of coffee or spending a day at the beach.

I would be happy to host people from all over the world. Ocassionally my sister comes to visit for a few months from Mexico City, she can cook some nice Mexican food for us. I have a normal work schedule during the week but I will be friendly and guide you around the city or hang out whenever we have the opportunity. Also I will be happy to share the Mexican and Latin American culture. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing because I love the idea of traveling to other countries and meeting new people. I can travel only on Holidays but I want to experience other cultures and learn from people's values and viewpoints. I also want to host people and try to make good friends. I think life is too short and the only thing we can really treasure is the love we shared and the good experiences we had. I hope couchsurfing helps me on this wish.

Music, Movies, and Books

Siddhartha and the Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse.

Anything about spiritualism or science.

Love all types of rock music as well as classical and symphonic music. If you like opera or rock we can go to the Met or the Lincoln Center. I am also curious about world music so I am willing to know about any genre, from electronic to folk, indie, new age etc. :)

Movies I can watch about anything - from Kubrik to Disney so that's not a problem. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not amazing, but I have worked in a few different places away from my hometown for extended periods. I spent 6 months working in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Also worked for 6 months in Mérida, Yucatán, México, very close to the Riviera Maya. I spent a few months in Texas and then I moved to New Jersey to work here for the last 5 years.

A few years ago I led a youth group in Mexico for visiting elder and children shelters to spread a little time and love with people who need it. This was challenging at times, still it was a very nice experience and made me learn that 'good' comes in many shapes and forms.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share the Mexican culture, help you learn Spanish and share viewpoints about Latin America. We can also talk about music, hang out in the city, take a walk in central park or go to a museum. If it's on your interest we can talk about politics, philosophy, spiritualism or the esoteric for which I am fascinated. I want to listen to other people's stories, ideals, aims, and listen to their views of world. I think this is the best way to we can learn and understand each other.

My apartment is not big, but I can offer a bedroom when my sister is not staying with me. In any case I can still offer an inflatable bed and a friendly atmosphere for your trip.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you are kind enough to host me I can share also the Mexican culture, help you learn Spanish or English, we can have nice converations about spiritualism, music, science, go out to explore, have a coffee, a drink. I am easy going and respectful, even if I am a bit shy. I would like to see the tourist areas as much as I want to see the real life of any place I visit and mostly I want to make meaningful connections with the people I meet .
