Overview
About Me
I'll love washing up, will get very embarrassed by your hospitality, and will probably end up apologizing for taking up your time. Then I'll insist on buying you a drink or two, talk until ours jaws are sore and make up a handshake for us. But I'm English, and I hear we tend to have a knack for that.
Born and raised on a farm in rural Hampshire, in theory I'm educated. But I've found that the only reason for being educated is to allow you to converse with absolutely anyone. And laugh, lots.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A great friend of mine once said he would only go on long-range roadtrips in purposely unfit cars because that way he knew they'd break down at some point and gift him a chance to finally talk with the locals.
Travelling isn't about hopping aboard the latest mechanical circus. It's in spite of that. Travel is about people, and the better you can do to stay in touch with the locals, the less distracting some big shiny plane is going to be to the whole point of the journey. Then you can hunt the storyline you're there to find.
Interests
Films, books, TV, drama/plays, any sport (no I mean literally any sport), exploring, laughing, and food. I also enjoy animals, but not all of them enjoy me. Such as snakes. Snakes ESPECIALLY hate me...they say it's something about my skin, and the way I taste the air, apparently.
Did I mention Film and sport? I meant partaking, not just watching. In both.

Music, Movies, and Books
If I wrote this list honestly I'd never finish editing this profile.
3xFav. Films: There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, and Cool Runnings
3xFav Books: I am David (Anne Holm), The Curios Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (Mark Haddon), Notes from a Small Island (Bill Bryson)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest free standing mountain in the world, in 2009. I wheezed.
Teach, Learn, Share
Play average level violin & saxophone.
Some proficiency in Method Acting -- don't be scared, I'll happily show you how to pretend to be someone else, and most importantly how you can enjoy that.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories that only 10 years of military-style, all boys' boarding schools in England will give you! Think Hogwarts, but with less magic, and even fewer girls. And a lot more pranking.
Having worked in restaurants throughout schooling, I also cook a huge variety of dishes, including the best ice cream you'll never buy.
Oh and there's the chance to stay with me in either Vancouver or England, of course. But that depends on the state of that personalised handshake.
