About Me

Relaxed and liberal British guy looking to explore new places and meet interesting people

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced to it by my partner and it seems the perfect way to meet new people and find out about other cultures and places by meeting

Interests

I love the outdoors and never need an excuse to put on my boots and head out to find somewhere new to walk to and explore. I'm definitely a country guy at heart but I've lived in a few cities in my time and can easily be persuaded to do some urban trekking or head to a few bars for a night out.

Music takes up the majority of my life and I run workshops at home for disabled adults and children. These take all forms but to find me in my element you just have to sit me behind a drum kit or place some percussion near me.
If you're passionate about music too then I'd love to hear your taste and hopefully pick up some recommendations. If you're musical yourself then maybe we could have a jam together.

I love to cook and it would be a pleasure to cook you a meal or perhaps help you cook one and learn a new recipe.
I am mostly vegetarian but if you are not I would still be happy to help or cook for you.

I'm currently playing chess again after doing so as a youth and would love to play a game or two with you, although I can't promise to be the best player. If you'd like to learn I'd be happy to teach you.

Music, Movies, and Books

As typical as it sounds I like most music!
Having played in bands from samba and reggae, through to punk and blues I'm always looking to listen to something new. Be it live or over a beer in the background at someone's house.

I do most of my reading while travelling and like to alternate between fiction and non fiction.
My favourite book is Catch 22 but I can often be found reading some classic sci fi or the odd bit of historical fiction.
Non fiction wise it could be a history book, a biography or perhaps something scientific by Dawkins or the like.

I have a soft spot for 80s action movies or science fiction but a good dark comedy or thriller will often win me over.
Something directed by Wes Anderson or Terry Gilliam will usually make me happy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing a geyser erupting in Yellowstone National Park that only erupts every few years!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some drumming either on the drum kit or maybe with some percussion or hand drums. A little bit of guitar as well.
I'm learning Spanish and would love to get better.
I know a few card games and can happily teach them to you, maybe you can teach me some!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A game of cards, good conversation and an exchange of music recommendations!
A game or two of chess perhaps or maybe to teach you the basics.
If you also are a musician then maybe a jam if we have instruments 😊
