About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Happiness - mainly mine, but seeing other people happy is one the things that makes me most happy.
ABOUT ME
I've been living in Japan for the past three years, and I'll be staying here until about April 2010.
I like reading books, staying fit, eating and drinking and playing games.
I'm going to run the Tokyo marathon next February so I'm doing hard training everyday. I think I thought it was going to be a lot easier than I now realise that it will be. Other than that I'm trying to cut down the drinking and I'm saving up to go round Africa next year.
PHILOSOPHY
I've been trying to work this one out for a long time...
So far I've come to the conclusion that there probably is a right and wrong, but that it's so complicated that it's best not to go round telling other people what it is until I'm completely satisfied with the way I live. I think I ought to be a little faster to judge myself and a little slower to judge everyone else.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think the world would be a better place if people were prepared to help strangers as much as they help their friends. I'll try to change the world by changing myself.
Interests
Funny things - haha funny and strange funny. I like both. I'm interested in my students too. They are often funny (both ways.)
I don't watch much TV. I'd rather read a book and listen to some music. I like movies though. All types.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like most music, although I'm not really into jazz, hip-hop or classical. When I was younger I listened to a lot of electronic dance music. these days I'm more into pop and rock and old reggae, rocksteady that sort of thing.
Books I like are: monkey, the Auther waley translation, gravity's rainbow, of mice and men, 1984, the remains of the day, the unspeakable lightness of being, the innocents abroad, a hero of our time...I like non-fiction too and the best book that I've read recently is dreams and shadows by Robin Wright.
As for movies, I like action ones.
Teach, Learn, Share
perhaps a little parochial, but the one thing that hits home most days is that while of course we're all a bit different, underneath we're all basically the same and we all want basically the same things. enough to eat, somewhere to sleep, and love and respect from the people around us.
