Hello there!

We are Eden and Ellen. An adventurous couple from Adelaide, South Australia. At 28 and 31 years old, we're embarking on a journey to fulfill our long-term goal of traveling the world together. We pride ourselves on our kindness, openness, and spontaneous nature (Eden) and organizational skills (Ellen).

Eden recently completed a bachelor's degree in media at the University of Adelaide and is excited to eventually pursue a career in that field. With nearly a decade of experience in hospitality, Eden still finds joy in creating memorable experiences for others.

Ellen, on the other hand, has been working as an accountant in the same firm for almost ten years. It was both heartbreaking and exciting for her to close that chapter and embark on this travel adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For us, traveling is a reward for the hard work we've put in over the past few years. We're interested in seeing the world, hitting the reset button, and gaining inspiration before diving back into our respective careers. That's why we believe that Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with locals, learn about different cultures, and create meaningful memories.

Interests

We're both eager to meet interesting people who can broaden our perspectives and share some laughter along the way.

I (Eden), have "surfed" a bit when I was younger with friends. But this is a new adventure for Ellen.

As a curious person, I have many interests. (Probably too many). Music has always been a passion of mine, and I've played in bands. Being a media graduate, I enjoy reading and writing about my various interests. I'm a bit of a movie buff too. Nature and the outdoors have always made me feel at home, and Ellen and I love mountain biking and hiking together. We're also big animal lovers and can't wait to adopt a greyhound once our travel adventure is complete. Oh, and I've recently rediscovered golf—it's my new obsession.
Being in the hospitality industry, I appreciate the role that food and drink play in understanding a foreign country and its culture.
I was lucky enough to have an exchange experience in Mannheim back in 2015, and ever since, I've had the travel bug!

On the other hand, Ellen is less scatter-brained than me and has a few focused interests. She enjoys curling up with a good book, cherishes quality time spent walking her dogs Grace and Ben, and has been trying to rediscover her passion for painting. Ellen used to love mountain biking too and hopes to reignite that passion. Like me, she also loves film and music. When she's not traveling, Ellen spends a lot of time relaxing and working with her parents and sisters on the family farm in the Adelaide Hills. She embodies the concept of living life slowly and taking a moment to breathe.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have eclectic tastes in music, ranging from blues to ambient and hitting country, rock, metal, and jazz in between.
As for books, we enjoy all sorts of reads too, with some favourites like 'Blood Meridian,' 'Master and Margarita,' 'Wind Up Bird Chronicle,' 'Lolita,' 'History of Western Philosophy,' and 'Beginning of Infinity.'

In film too we appreciate a wide range of genres, from classics be they 'Sunset Boulevard' or 'The Blues Brothers' to 'Irreversible' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.'

I've got a penchant for genre films like horror, sci-fi and westerns whereas Ellen isn't ashamed to admit she enjoys a good rom-com, heck I don't either.

Teach, Learn, Share

Between the two of us, we have a lot of knowledge and skills in various areas that people might find interesting, such as music, philosophy, and hospitality. We strive to have good general and world knowledge and love discovering new things. Naturally, we enjoy engaging in conversations with people to share perspectives and knowledge.

We cook all the time! Loving hospitality and wine has made us into decent home cooks.
