About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make the world a slightly more silly place. One smile at a time.

ABOUT ME

Ok, this is the hard part, since I can't say ALL about me, it seems to me that the couchsurfing experience is about getting to know people, and I don't wanna spoil the suprise.
So all I can say is that I am an outgoing person, I love to meet new people and I'm looking forward to my couchsurfing experience.
Of course there's much more to say, but it's for you to discover! I don't wanna spoil the fun :D

PHILOSOPHY

Smiling is for free. A smile doesn't cost a thing, and it's a good start. Life is already sad enough, so... why aren't you smiling already?
And by the way, give me the chocolate and everything will be fine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

At the moment, sadly, none. But I hope to have something to write in the next few months!

Interests

I like sports, not watching them but playing them; my favorite sport is boxing, since it's good training for both mind and body.
I'm quite into outdoor activities, especially if they involve mountains and hills. So at the top of the list there are downhill and nordic skying, snowboarding, hiking and rock climbing. Then comes frisbee (I love playing it and collecting different shaped frisbees), jogging, swimming, playing football with friends...
I love movies, books (Asimov, Philip Dick and Steven King being my favorite writers), graphic novels (Maus, Blankets and Palestine being my favorites), and music (can't leave my house without my mp3 player!).
I used to play the saxophone, but I had to quit because of my MSc, could't find the time to play... hope to get back to it in the near future :D!
Oh, last but not least, I really enjoy games. Of any kind: card games, board games, outdoor games, videogames, they are all an amazing way to spend time with people.
And I love chocolate. Any kind. Any shape. Seriously, any.

Music, Movies, and Books

As my favorite movies I'd list the old StarWars ones (I guess IV, V and VI? Damn you George Lucas and you sequels/prequels), the Goonies, the first 3 Indy Jones, an italian movie called "Dopo Mezzanotte" (After Midnight), "Lars and the real girl", "Be kind rewind" and "Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind". There's more, but these are the ones I could watch 100 times and still not get bored.
Music... music... everything but classical opera music. I can't stand that, sorry. But if I have to choose, my favorite bands are The Queen and Foo Fighters.
And concerning books... I've written before that I prefer sci-fi readings (Dick, Asimov, Bradbury) although I don't mind occasionally Steven King, Poe, and whatever I can find lying around in my living room.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As I've seen done by others, I'll try to make a list of "Amazing" things I've done or seen, although "Amazing" is a big word. Let's say that these episode are for me good memories, and that's that.

1) Getting bitten by a german shepherd dog on my way to my first day of primary school. Since then I have a bad relationship with both.
2) Slipped on a soap tablet at age 2. I fear I was brain damaged, and my friends confirm it.
3) Chasing my sister, at age 11, smashed my teeth into pieces. Still blame her for having escaped me.
4) Took up swimming lessons at the age of 5. And I was afraid of water. Took me EXACTLY 8 MONTHS to actually enter the pool. Then loved it. And kept at it since age 16.
5) First ride on a rollercoaster at age 10. Cried like there was no tomorrow. Swore I'd never ride ever again. Now I'm addicted.
6) First bungee jump at the age of 19. Epic. Done it again the year after. Again, epic.
7) Parachute jump at the age of 27. Even more epic. Jumped through a snowy cloud. Still remember the coooold.
8)Went on a long hike (5+ hours, a difference in altitude of 1200 m) with a 50 kg backpack and tent. Only to discover that the camping permit was called off the night before. Then... return back to the car.
9) Played frisbee with some friends at 5.30 am. Look on the "guys who were going to work"'s faces: priceless.
10) Rollerskated through my small town at 4 am. That happened only once. But still, great memory. So quiet.
11) Camped with some friends, nearly mugged, scared the muggers away then waited for the morning after unable to sleep.
12) Met a girl at a party. Got her number from a friend of a friend. Sent an anonymous text. Reply:"Is that Paolo?". Seen through in 5 seconds.
13) Played once a 90 minutes game on FIFA 98 on the Playstation against 2 friends. Won 90 - 15. Still being accused of cheating. Losing still hurts.
14) Rockclimbing with some friends. The safety rope broke. Few meters of freefall and life flashed in front of my eyes. I still prefer the parachute.
15) Hiked in the winter, one meter and a half of snow, completely unprepared. Felt like a Napoleon soldier in Russia.
16) Travelled 100 km by bike under the summer sun with a friend. My skin didn't appreciate that.
17) Walked and slammed straight into a street lamp out of the Christmas Mass. Everyone was watching. Kept my cool, acted like nothing had happened. I had indeed broke my nose. People still think it was a prank. It painfully wasn't.
18) Went with some friends on the mountains, got up at 3 am just to see the sunrise. Moving.
19) Being mistaken for the priest of my town. He's 85. Still can't believe that.
20) Went to a concert with a few friends. Pogoed so hard I broke my teeth. Again. But Korn was playing, so it's understandable.
21) Another concert. 30 minutes before the gig, the one in charge of the tickets realizes she left them at home. Thanks, Mr. Fax for the invention that carries your name. If.
22) Lived in the UK for one year. Sober before, sober still. Great achievement.
23) Travelled 150 km just to go iceskating. In August. It was worth it.
24) Drank 1.5 litres of concentrated mint syrup. Sugar rushed after that for 4 hours.
