ABOUT ME

I have finished my study Biology/Natural Resources Management in Utrecht and I am working in Utrecht at Vitens, a drinking water company. In my study time I have been very active in the UBV (the Utrecht Biology Association) which is the Corporation of Biology. I have participated in the party committee and worked as a board member for one year (treasurer) amongst other activities. Furthermore I have participated several times in the guidance of freshmen.

In the last year of my study I have lived for almost four months in Pekanbaru, Sumatra, Indonesia to perform an internship. I investigated if it was possible to combine economic development (a cassava starch factory) with nature protection (Tesso Nilo National Park). I also traveled alone in Indonesia for three weeks (Medan, Singapore, Bali, Gili Trawangan) and with my parents and sister (Bali, Sulawesi and Java). These have been some amazing weeks! Indonesia is great and has a lot to offer to curious travelers.

In 2009 I went to Ghana for a couple of months; another great experience abroad. This time I went abroad for work, working at the Ghana Water Company for four months. Of course I also travelled a lot in Ghana.

Another way of awesome traveling is by motorcycle which I have done in 2006 with two friends (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg). We did this again in the summer of 2008 and made it all the way to Russia, thanks to some couchsurfers like Mone (Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark).

I have visited a lot of other countries, especially in Western Europe but also others like Thailand, Dubai, Costa Rica, Cambodia and Panama. You can find my travel journals at edwinschuller.waarbenjij.nu (in Dutch but with pictures).

I like to meet new people through this medium. I can meet them while they are staying in Utrecht or when I am on holiday. Whenever, wherever...

I would appreciate it when you'd read my profile first if you want to send me a message or a couchsurfrequest. Don't ask me what my hobbies are or stupid questions alike (for obvious reasons), if you want to meet me invest some time in it. If you do, I will definitely answer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed with Mone in Germany, with Aleksander in Poland, had a beer with Esther in Finland, met Thomas Muenstermann in St. Petersburg, visited a couchsurf meeting in Utrecht and I participated in a photoshoot for an article about couchsurfing in the SNS Bank Magazine. I hope to add some more experiences to this list soon!
