About Me

I've been living in Okinawa for the last 6 months and now I'm about to begin a bike tour of Japan and I can't wait!

I'm an extremely relaxed person, and I am just as happy chilling-out with a film or music, as I am with doing activities. I don't need to be entertained or doing something all the time.

I never take things to seriously and I enjoy a good laugh! Always look on the bright side and all that.

I enjoy being outdoors, whether I'm hiking or climbing, but equally, you can't beat those rainy days when your warm and cozy inside with a nice cup of tea! I do realise I'm further perpetuating the Irish stereotype that we are a nation of tea drinkers.

I like film a lot. Like more than the average person!

I'm debating going back to college to learn either programming or sound engineering; I'm also a little indecisive!

I really enjoy trying new things and I will rarely say no to anything unless I'm fearing for my life!

I've been told that I'm friendly, personable and a good communicator; you can make your own mind up about that one!

I've been travelling around both New Zealand, Thailand and Japan for the past year which has been an amazing experience.

I believe in always being honest and good to those around you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason I've joined couch surfing is to make lots of new friends and to hopefully get off the beaten track :)

Interests

I've always had a passionate interest in music, films and video games. I love to read, and recently I have been making my way through a load of graphic novels and comics.

I also love to rock climb and I am currently travelling with all my gear, including a rope ( a complete nightmare to carry!)

Music, Movies, and Books

I find it very difficult to compile favourites lists, but here it goes.....

Music: Bibio, Boards of Canada, Kate Bush, Mac DeMarco, John Barry, Animal Collective, Ariel Pink, Kurt Vile, Sufjan Stevens, The Beach Boys, Neon Indian, Thom Yorke.

Films: Chinatown, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Goodbye Lenin, The White Diamond, The Thing, Vertigo, Chunking Express, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Blow Out, Bin-Jip, Tokyo Godfathers, Princess Mononoke, Belleville Rendevous, This is England, The City of Lost Children, Suspiria, Rosemary's Baby, Ip Man, Drunken Master, Blade Runner, Children of Men, Memories of Murder.

Books: The Wind Up Bird Chronicle, Norwegian Wood, The Great Gatsby, The Devil Rides Out, Number9dream, Palestine, Watchmen, Maus, Ghost World, Northern Lights, The Rules of Attraction, Fade, Hokkaido Highway Blues.

Video games: Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Donkey Kong Country 2, Dark Souls, Spelunky, Okami, Shadow of The Colossus, Proteus, Mirrors Edge, Majora's Mask, Final Fantasy X, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Fez, Metal Gear Solid, Portal 2, Skyward Sword.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaked down the Whanganui river in New Zealand for 3 days on my own! I don't know if it's amazing but it was a lot of fun (except for the capsizing!)

Cycled the Shimanami Kaido at night with a friend. We were cycling until 4.30 am but it was awesome! We had the whole cycle track to ourselves which was amazing considering how busy it was during the day. Exhausting!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always interested to know someone's favourite films and music so I can keep exploring and hopefully discover amazing things I'd never have found on my own!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good time :)

I'm a qualified English Teacher and I'm more than happy to help anyone who would like to improve their English.

I can impart my love for film and music.

If you're interested in rock climbing I could help you learn.
