About Me

Former South America explorer. Currently traveling less because of work. Doesn't matter, still on the game.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Backpacker by heart. Once I began exploring new countries, trying to understand new languages and traditions, this experience became fullfiling. It's not just about taking pictures on well known landscapes, but getting in touch with people, feeling the rhythm. Of course I enjoy places like museums, but I'm not looking for a pre-defined package that anyone could buy.

Interests

Arts, Politics, Philosophy. I would like to hear you talking about your culture and background! Also, I'm willing to exchange perceptions from my own country, give some references about literature, music and have a nice chat about international politics if you are this kind of person. I must add I really enjoy museums and could spend an entire afternoon in a good one.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into Brazilian music: bossa nova, MPB, samba. Also, I like tango and Latin American rhythms like chamamé.
Of course I'm interested in suggestions from different places.
From literature my taste is more about genres. I enjoy the new generation of Brazilian literature, such as Cristóvão Tezza and Milton Hatoum. Nevertheless, sci-Fi is a predilection: from classical Isaac Asimov to Philip K. Dick. My biggest flaw is have missed Ursula Le Guin until now. Besides, classical authors and historical novels are good choices as well. Reading non-fiction books is related to my job, so History and Media subjects come as a nice topic.
Regarding movies we can discuss sci-fi and drama, however the latter is a too wide definition. I dig Federico Fellini, Andrey Tarkovsky, Wes Anderson and, surely, Stanley Kubrick. Cinema from South America is another possible topic for discussion. I'm always open to listen about productions from other countries and the industry or 'aesthetics' behind it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learned how some people create imaginary barriers to not go further. Yes, in fact I understand not everyone has enough resources or really wishes to travel.
After a few inspiring people I planned and drived through some countries of South America by motorcycle.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a journalist, currently a PhD student in Social Communication, researching Game Industry.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Nice chats and a bit of info about Brazil and South America. I'm into academic stuff but I'll try not to bother who's not on the same boat.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Paraguay, Peru, Turkey, Uruguay
